Actor Henry Thomas, known for his role as 10-year-old Elliott in ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’, was arrested for DUI in Oregon.

The Tualatin Police Department received a call from a driver around 8.30pm on Monday reporting a car stopped in the middle of residential intersection. 

When officers arrived to the scene, they discovered Thomas passed out behind the wheel of his car and were reportedly forced to wake the snoozing 48-year-old.

 TMZ reports that the car didn’t have the stench of alcohol, but Thomas was taken to the Washington County Jail an suspicion of intoxication after he showed other signs of drinking. 

Those signs and Thomas’ BAC were not revealed by authorities. 

He’s been booked for a misdemeanor of driving under the influence.

It appears Thomas is still in police custody.

Thomas is best known as the adorable child actor who portrayed the young protagonist in Steven Spielberg’s critically acclaimed movie ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.’ 

The movie received universal praise and surpassed ‘Star Wars’ as the highest grossing film of all time. 

At the end of its theatrical run, the movie grossed $359 million in North America and $619 million worldwide.

For his part in the iconic movie, Thomas won the Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles at the 1983 British Academy Film Awards.  

In the years following his early success, Thomas acted in several TV roles and films. 

Most recently, he starred in the Netflix supernatural horror show ‘Haunting of Hill House.’ 

Thomas won the Best Actor in a Streaming Presentation at Saturn Award in 2019 for his role as Timothy Hutton.
