‘My family and I will be coming to Australia for Christmas in 2022, my boys have absolutely fallen in love with Australia,’ Elton said.

‘So we’re coming back for a holiday and but I would think there’s a good chance I may do a few more shows in Australia.’

Elton’s last ‘appearance’ Down Under was in a video package for the state funeral of late music industry executive Michael Gudinski in March.

His most recent concert was in Sydney in March last year but shows were put off due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In September meanwhile, he announced that he was postponing the European and UK leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour until 2023, after suffering an awkward fall.

Earlier this month he gave a health update to fans while appearing on the show, Lorraine, revealing that he ‘can’t move sideways’ – and vowed to ‘make it up to’ fans who were excited to see him perform.

The music legend explained that he is in constant pain and it was unlikely that his hip would hold out for the duration of the tour, which is why the decision was made to have surgery before getting back on the road.

‘I can’t move sideways. I can’t get in and out of a car. And the decision had to be made, because I wouldn’t wanna go on stage and give less than 100 percent,’ Elton explained.

Elton, who was close friends with Princess Diana, is considered one of the greatest artists of all time and is known for hits including Candle in the Wind, Rocket Man and Your Song.

He has just released a new hit, Cold Heart, with Dua Lipa which has been a hit on the charts.
