Emma Freedman reveals online abuse over nude photo scandal

Television presenter Emma Freedman has revealed the sickening backlash she received following her comments on the Richmond AFL nude photo scandal.

Last year Richmond Tigers defender Nathan Broad, 24, was suspended for taking a photo of a topless woman wearing his premiership medal and distributing it without her permission .

Speaking out about the incident on Channel Nine’s Sunday Sports show, Emma told fellow panelist Peter FitzSimons that the issue could have been avoided if the woman had kept her clothes on.

‘My opinion on it, Peter, is don’t take your clothes off, to be honest,’ Emma announced.

A clearly infuriated Peter then quizzed Emma asking if she was inferring that the scandal was all the woman’s fault.

Emma responded: ‘If you’re in a position where you think you might be put in a vulnerable position later on, for me, I wouldn’t take my clothes off’.

Speaking to news.com.au, Emma, 28, said it was this exchange that prompted a barrage of horrific online bullying.

‘There were a couple of death threats and there were a couple of people who were so up in arms about something that was not meant to be offensive in any possible way,’ she said.
