Everwood actress Stephanie Niznik passes away at age 52 

Everwood and Star Trek actress Stephanie Niznik unexpectedly died in California on June 23rd at age 52

Everwood actress Stephanie Niznik has died at age 52.

The star passed away unexpectedly on June 23 in Encino, California, according to Variety.   

Niznik played Nina Fenney from 2002 to 2006 in Everwood, and also had roles in Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Insurrection.

Though Niznik has been acting for over two decades, initially she had plans on becoming a geneticist, according to Variety. 

The actress received her Bachelors degree from Duke University, where she majored in theater and Russian, before eventually pursuing her masters degree from Cal Arts. 

Niznik’s earliest credits include roles on Exit to Eden and the television series Vanishing Son, where she played Agent Judith Phillips in 1995.  

In 1998, she played Perim in Star Trek: Insurrection, and in 2002, played The Wraith in Star Trek: Enterprise.

Niznik’s last acting credit on IMDB was playing the role of Dot in 2009 film, The Twenty. 

That same year also saw her portray Dr. Evelyn Ariza in Lost and Sharon Bellows in an NCIS episode entitled Caged. 

Aside from acting, Niznik enjoyed giving back, and was an active volunteer for children, hunger and animal rescue organizations. 

Niznik is survived by family including her mother and stepfather, and her dogs, Nucleus and Jake, according to Variety.
