EXCLUSIVE: Ashley James reveals boyfriend Tommy Andrews is considering a vasectomy following her ‘negative birth experience’

Ashley James has revealed her boyfriend Tommy Andrews is considering a vasectomy following her ‘negative birth experience.’

The DJ, 36, shares son Alfie, two, and daughter Ada, seven months, with her partner, and has now admitted ‘the door is shut’ when it comes to having more children.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline at the That Strategy Co launch party in St Martins Lane Hotel, London, she discussed their future plans as a family.

‘I’ve two kids done, and the door is shut,’ Ashley explained.

‘It was obviously hard to decide to have another child after a traumatic birth – it’s a bit like having a car crash and getting back in a car. My negative birth experience will stay with me forever.’

Ashley continued: ‘I wasn’t listened to, I didn’t receive pain relief and I was stitched up incorrectly. It was a very long recovery – 22 months, and I still might have to have corrective surgery.’

Speaking about the couple’s options going forward, the former Made in Chelsea star admitted men need to ‘step up’ when it comes to contraception.

‘I’d never make him do anything, because it’s his body, but having two under two is contraception enough.’

‘I’ve put my body through a lot to give us a family, so I feel the snip is a great thing – I think more men should step up to do that because it’s usually the women’s role to think about contraception and carry babies’

A vasectomy is a surgical procedure to sterilise a man in which the vas deferens, the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to outside the body, are cut in half and sewn closed.

Ashley previously spoke of her ’empowering caesarean’ with Ada as she ‘gained closure’ from the traumatic birth of first child, Alfie.

Sharing photos after Ada was born, she explained: ‘I opted for an elective caesarean and everything felt so wonderful and controlled, which is exactly what I needed after my first birth.’

She continued: ‘I wanted to share because I so hoped my first birth would be positive. And I was so worried about doing it again. I got my positive story.

‘I feel zero guilt about my birth choice. I don’t feel like I was robbed of a birth, because it was beautiful and perfect. And it helped me get closure from my last. 04.03.23- the day we met Ada.’

The reality star welcomed her first child, Alfie, in January 2021, just a year after she and tech professional Tommy began dating.
