Cody Simpson’s mother Angie has broken her silence on her rumoured romance with Sunrise presenter Mark Beretta, following his split from wife Rachel after 22 years of marriage.
Angie, 53, who is newly divorced and currently starring on Channel 10’s The Amazing Race with daughter Alli, shut down the rumours on Saturday while speaking to Daily Mil Australia at Flemington Racecourse.
‘Marc and I are great friends,’ Angie said.
‘We’ve hung out a few times, but, you know, there’s no romance. I’ve been a good support to him,’ she shared, highlighting the mutual support they’ve provided each other through personal hardships.
Angie confirmed that Mark, 57, has handled the false rumours like a gentleman.

‘He actually rang me and apologised and said, ‘I’m really sorry [about the romance rumours]’, and, you know, ‘What’s going on?’ And I said, ‘Well, you’re not a bad person to be connected with, so I’m not too worried’. He’s lovely,’ she added with a laugh.
Angie said she first sparked friendship with Mark last year while they both attended they Commonwealth Games.
Mark was reporting on the event for Sunrise, while Angie was there to support her swimmer son Cody while he competed for Australia.

‘I met Mark when Cody swam and he interviewed us, and we’ve been really great friends since,’ Angie recalled.
Angie and her husband Brad, who share, daughter Alli, 25, and sons Cody, 26, and Tom, 19, split back in 2021.
Mark Beretta, who recently announced his split from wife Rachel after two decades of marriage, has evidently found a friend in Angie during this time.

‘At the start of the year, after a great deal of reflection and 22 years of marriage, Rach and I came to the conclusion that a separation was best for us,’ Beretta told Daily Mail Australia through a Seven spokesperson.
‘We remain good friends, and our two children and grandchild remain our focus and priority as we move forward with love, dignity, and respect.’
