EXCLUSIVE: ‘Hot Purple Wiggle’ John Pearce reflects on ‘mums letting loose’ over the ‘sexy’ star during children’s concerts: ‘It’s 2023 so anything is possible’

New member of The Wiggles John Pearce dished what he really thinks about adult fans calling him the ‘sexy Wiggle.’

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail at SXSW Sydney on Thursday, the 32-year-old said, ‘it’s all good positive stuff and I think, you know, you just gotta take the best of it.’

The former member of the dance group Justice Crew also went on to reflect on the strangeness of the nickname.

‘Sexy and Wiggle in the same sentence doesn’t really make sense, but it’s 2023 and anything is possible.’

But thirsty mums haven’t been threatening his marriage, as he claims his wife is very secure in their relationship: ‘She loves it, yeah. She’s very supportive. She’s my best friend. She’s my soulmate.’

The Daily Mail also spoke to fellow band member Tsehay Hawkins, who thinks the Hot Purple Wiggle moniker is ‘the funniest thing ever.’

‘It’s great seeing the mums let it loose… It’s a great joke in the group,’ she said.

‘John’s so humble and such a funny guy so it’s so funny seeing them like, you know, idolise him and he’s so chill.’

It comes as the Purple Wiggle revealed earlier this year that he has become a lot more ‘careful’ when it comes to sharing ‘thirst traps’ online.

In an interview with Stellar magazine, the former singer spoke about his online persona versus his image as a children’s entertainer.

‘Taking your shirt off and being a kid’s entertainer is not in the same room. I’m totally aware of all that,’ he told the publication.

‘You know, we have to be super careful. People are entitled to their opinions and say what they like.’

He continued: ‘I try not to let any of the comments, positive and negative, affect what I’m here for – and that’s making music for children.’

Pearce recently spoke about the attention he’s received for his good looks, particularly from the mothers of his young audience.

Talking to news.com.au he said he’s thankful to have the support of his wife-of-four-years Jessie Pearce.

‘I think it’s great to have a person in your life who is going to bring the best out in you and she’s always been on board with that sort of stuff.’

Jessie currently works in the fashion industry.

However, Pearce said she may be joining him when The Wiggles tour this year.
