‘Expectant couple’s’ gender reveal takes a nightmarish turn

‘Expectant couple’s’ gender reveal takes a nightmarish turn as they send up the ‘pink or blue’ party tradition

  • Caitlin Russell and Tommy Marshall were hosting a ‘gender reveal’ with friends
  • After counting down, Tommy released a smoke grenade which poured out green-coloured vapour instead of blue or pink
  • The gathered guests are left terrorized and run off screaming and coughing
  • The prank video ends by claiming that gender ‘is a construct’

An ‘expecting couple’ recording a gender reveal party gave their friends a fright by setting off a green smoke grenade as a prank.

Caitlin Russell and Tommy Marshall looked terrified after their attempt to unveil the gender of their ‘baby’ turned into a horror film, with guests coughing in the smoke and rolling around on the floor.

The satirical footage was filmed at one of their homes in Toronto, Canada.

In the video, the apparent couple, along with their friends, attempt to carry out a fashionable gender reveal celebration, using smoke to indicate whether their baby will be a boy or a girl.

After counting down, Tommy triggers the smoke cannister, which was expected to create a blue plume for a boy, or a pink plume for a girl.

Instead, it spouts out plumes of dark green smoke, leaving everybody at the gathering seen visibly terrorized.

Guests fall to the floor, with one woman appearing to have blood coming from her mouth after running out of the smoke screen.

Tommy can be seen falling to the floor, crying and shouting ‘I’m sorry’ as he holds on to Caitlin.

Then as the video ends, a note appears on the screen, reading ‘gender is a construct’.

Posting the video, Caitlin revealed that she and Tommy, who is not her partner, created the video as a satirical take on the social construct of gender, and also to make light of the popular activity of ‘revealing’ a baby’s gender.

The video, which has been viewed over three million times, received mixed reactions, with some totally confused, and others lauding the pair’s sense of humour.
