Family post tragic last picture of their loving son

A bereaved mother has paid tribute to her loving teenage son after he was killed in a tragic motor accident as she travels to his favourite holiday destination.

Mum-of-three Susanne Tarczon posted the last picture of her son Callum Tarczon, 19, as she prepares to travel to Indonesia.

‘A big thumbs up for Bali,’ she wrote alongside the picture of her son.

‘This is my precious boy who adored Bali. He loved everything about it. I never get tired of looking at this photo. It was our last family holiday together. Little did we know he would die ten months later.

The emotional tribute was written by mum-of-three Susanne Tarczon and posted to a popular social media page ahead of a family trip to Bali – the place Callum Tarczon (pictured), 19, loved

‘My husband and I are heading back today. A well earned break. A chance for some peace. A chance to forget and remember all at once. I wish my son was coming with us. But then, maybe he is.’

On March 27 2018, Callum was driving on Dean Street in Moonee Ponds in Melbourne’s north when his car swerved and hit a car travelling in the opposite direction.

The woman driving the other car survived, but Callum, who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, died at the scene.

Mrs Tarczon opened up to Daily Mail Australia about her family’s heartache as they try to piece their lives back together.

‘I was determined very early on not to make his death about a mistake,’ she said, referencing the fact her son had chosen not to wear a seatbelt that day.

‘Callum’s brother Joel has never been the same since losing his brother,’ she revealed.

Joel, who carried his dead brother’s coffin at the funeral, changed as a person after losing Callum, becoming quiet and removed.

The mother explained she was so consumed with her own grief she was unable to emotionally be with her remaining two in their time of need.

Mrs Tarczon admitted she felt extremely guilty about her actions after the death of her youngest son, but takes solace knowing they can still laugh about the funny things he did during his short life.

‘He was my youngest child and by far my cheekiest,’ she said, describing his ‘gangster’ attitude, sass, and love for his family.

‘His love of Bali brought so much happiness to me. Our family holiday before his passing was amazing.’

The grieving mother described a 10-day trip to Legian – a beach destination on the island’s south coast – with nine family members, including Callum and his partner Saf.

‘Nothing will ever replace that family bonding,’ she shared, explaining how the Balanese locals loved his ‘typical Aussie larrikin’ sense of humour.

‘His smile and charm attracted people – he would greet everyone with a ‘g’day mate’ and a handshake and the Aussie slang,’ she laughed.

‘He was peaceful in Bali away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. He was planning to go with his mates at the end of last year.

As a tribute to his life and love for Bali, Mrs Tarczon revealed she and her husband will today be travelling to the same regions visited with their beloved son.

‘I’ve been back a few times,’ she said. ‘But I’m planning to do a few of the same things we did together this time.’

While Callum’s death left the whole family ‘shattered’, the mother said Callum’s love of Bali still brings them happiness.
