Fans MOCK Scotland defenders Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney for celebrating during 5-1 thumping against Germany

Fans have mocked Scotland captain Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney after they celebrated early into their eventual defeat against Germany in the Euro 2024 opener.

The Scots went into the tournament with high hopes under Steve Clarke but were hammered 5-1 by the tournament hosts.

Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Niclas Fullkrug and Emre Can all got on the scoresheet as Scotland got their campaign underway in the worst way possible.

The Tartan Army had started in a celebratory mood when Tierney tackled Musiala and celebrated with Robertson just three minutes into the match.

And fans took to social media to slam the pair, with one saying: ‘Can’t wait to tell the grandkids about this goal kick.’

Another wrote: ‘I thought this was pathetic. Celebrating a goal kick after 3 minutes! As Roy Keane would say: “well done, you done your job”.’

A third posted: ‘Still can’t get over the fact he actually celebrated winning a goal kick in the 3rd min’.

‘Scotlands biggest celebration of the game’ a fourth fan posted on X.

It look less than 10 minutes for Scotland’s ambitions to start unravelling when Wirtz put the host nation ahead.

Musiala added a second minutes later, and Ryan Porteous saw red after he lunged in on Ilkay Gundogan in a bid to make a goal-saving tackle.

Havertz netted the penalty and Germany went into the break 3-0 down.

Things got worse for Scotland in the second half, with Fullkrug coming off the bench to score a stunner to make it 4-0, and he thought he had added a fifth, only for it to be ruled out for offside.

Antonio Rudiger’s own goal was a late consolation, but the writing was on the wall for the Scots, and Emre Can added a fifth moments from time.
