Britain may be a tiny country – but its capital city, London, packs a huge punch size-wise.
A fascinating size-comparison mapping tool that enables users to superimpose a map of one city over that of another reveals that it’s actually bigger than all the cities with famous skylines in America.
The tool, by www.mylifeelsewhere.com, makes for a fascinating geography lesson, with the feature also revealing that some world-famous cities – such as Paris and Sydney – are surprisingly small.
In fact, they are both swallowed up by London and America’s major metropolises.
We’ve picked out some of the most interesting comparisons and presented them below.

LONDON VS LOS ANGELES
London, including the 32 boroughs of Greater London, is around 1,572 sq km (606 sq m), which makes it about 1.3 times (or 29 per cent) bigger than Los Angeles, which covers 1,215 sq km (469 sq m)
LONDON VS PARIS
London (1,572 sq km/606 sq m) is around 15 times bigger than Paris, which covers 105 sq km (40 sq miles)
LONDON VS NEW YORK CITY
New York City, including its five boroughs, covers 781 sq km (301 sq m). It’s vast – but London is twice as big (1,572 sq km/606 sq m)
