A doting father was left in tears as he struggled to read a book about his little girl’s future.

Ben Spiegel, 32, from Chicago, Illinois, was gifted the novel by his wife, Samantha, 29, which detailed the endless career possibilities for their two-month-old Marlee.

Crying tears of joy, Ben quickly became emotional after reading the first page aloud for his family – with his wife capturing the moment on film.

Included in the novel were tales of what professions Marlee could have when she grows up, such as being an astronaut, doctor, pilot, or rockstar.

The video started with Ben reading from the first page of his gift, in which his wife has penned a note from their daughter.

‘I can’t wait to make you proud in everything I accomplish in life as I grow up with the best daddy there ever was. Love Marlee’, it read.

The novel then starts to tell the tale of Ben’s character showing his daughter the many wonderful times she could have in the future.

Reading aloud, Ben said: ‘Good morning sleepy head, I’ve been up for a while. Sipping coffee by your bed as your dreams make you smile.’

But it soon became too much for Ben who started sobbing, to which Samantha admitted: ‘I knew it was going to make you cry.’

Composing himself once again, Ben continued: ‘Wondering where your mind goes when your eyes close and wishing I knew the worlds you traveled to.

‘I know soon you’ll be living your own story, and they’ll be chapters without me but life is a journey and it is quite alright.

‘Only you call me Dad and of all my jobs it’s the best one I’ve ever had. Now I’m thinking about things you, Marlee, might do or where you might end up and what’s in store for you.

‘So before mom wakes up, listen to me tell you what I think you’ll grow up to be.’
