A female police officer in Melbourne eastern suburbs had a not-so-merry Christmas after she was pulled over for drink-driving on December 25.

The sergeant recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.082 after being pulled over for a random breath test in Box Hill at about 8pm on Christmas Day.

She has been fined $496 for drink driving and had her licence suspended for six months.

Police have detected 9,832 traffic offences since Operation Roadwise began in Victoria on December 13. 

Officers have conducted 139,432 random breath tests with 292 people testing positive.

304 people have tested positive for drugs out of 3186 roadside tests.
