There have been cases reported of the infectious virus spreading to others in a household or workplace in China and elsewhere.

The couple, who have not been identified, are now both being isolated in a suburban Chicago hospital.

The wife had returned from Wuhan, which is the epicenter of the deadly disease’s outbreak, on January 13 and went to hospital after experiencing symptoms of the viral illness.

The new case involving her husband is the sixth reported in the U.S.

The other five were travelers who developed the illness after returning to the U.S. from China. The latest patient had not been in China.
