British paedophile Douglas Slade preyed on boys as young as ten

A British paedophile who preyed on boys as young as ten faces a compensation claim in the UK for tens of thousands of pounds from five Filipino teenagers.

The five, who have taken their case to the High Court, claim Douglas Slade abused them in the Philippines while he was on the run from justice.

At a preliminary hearing last week, their lawyer Justin Levinson said it was the first case in which foreign abuse victims have brought a case in the UK.

Slade, 77 – once dubbed ‘Britain’s vilest man’ – was jailed for 24 years at Bristol Crown Court in 2016 after being found guilty of 13 child abuse charges in the UK committed between the 1960s and the 1980s.

The 22st predator had avoided prosecution for about 20 years after fleeing to the Philippines, which has no extradition treaty with the UK, in 1985.

He was arrested at Heathrow when he made a brief visit to Britain.

The Filipino claimants say Slade ruined their childhoods by subjecting them to sexual abuse, including rape. The hearing is scheduled for October.
