Floyd Mayweather is preparing to put the biggest bet of his life on his certainty that he will defy an extravagant prediction from Conor McGregor’s boss, Dana White.
The head of the leading mixed martial arts operation boldly announced: ‘Conor will become the greatest combat sportsman of all time by beating the great Mayweather on Saturday night’.
Mayweather smiled at the final press conference before he battles with the notorious Irishman at the T-Mobile Arena and said: ‘I’m looking at putting the most I’ve ever done at the sports book that this won’t happen’.

The word in the camp of the undefeated and finest boxer of a generation is that he is considering a $5million dollar punt.
There was a strangely subdued atmosphere about this meeting between the stars from different fighting constellations, in welcome contrast to the foul-mouthed ranting at each other on their world promotional tour.
Mayweather, though he is the more mature, set the more civilised tone.
He went so far as to scold one of his entourage for shouting an insult at McGregor.

The UFC star declared that he is ready to take over boxing as well as MMA, adding: ‘I am prepared for 12 three-minute rounds at fantastic pace and intensity… but in all honesty I think I only need one.’
Again the relaxed and unsmiling Mayweather had the answer, saying: ‘ Boxing is about being able to take it, as well as give it. I have done everything that can be done in this sport a thousand times over.
‘And you will gather from my record of 49-0 that I do a lot more giving that receiving.
‘The fight will be settled not with words but in the ring. It’s time to conduct ourselves in the proper manner.’
For the most part McGregor complied. Although he did let slip one expletive when he warned Mayweather: ‘I’m going to f*** you up.’
