Foodies spot something VERY unusual about this box of barbecue Shapes

An image of an ordinary box of barbecue Shapes on a supermarket shelf is wowing foodies because of its life-like similarity to the snack food – when in actual fact it’s a piece of cake.

Baker Tigga Maccormack, owner of Cake for Days, shared a video of herself walking through an Australian supermarket and picking up a box of Shapes from the shelf… only to take a large bite out of the top.

The bizarre footage – which shocked her fans – encouraged Tigga to showcase exactly how the cake was made using fondant and a printer.

‘You can definitely tell which one was the cake. In person there is a slight colour difference and the ink we use to print the labels is edible ink and edible paper,’ she said.

‘Also it’s a cake so it feels different. It doesn’t feel like cardboard when you touch it.’

Tigga waited in the biscuit aisle at her local Woolworths for 10 minutes until all of the customers had left before she went and took a bite of the cake.

‘So good! Loved your TikTok supermarket run too. You’d never have known it was cake next to the other Shapes boxes,’ said one fan.

‘Can’t wait to see how many kids who love watching your videos walk down the aisles biting into Shapes boxes,’ said another.

A third added: ‘Omg. I actually thought you ate a box!’

In January last year Tigga wowed millions after creating an epic cake that looks identical to a VB beer bottle.

She carefully constructed layers of salted caramel mudcake with fondant and chocolate ganache to replicate the iconic longneck – a beer bottle with a long, narrow neck.

She shared a now-viral video on TikTok showing exactly how she assembled the optical-illusion beer cake – all while ensuring her sweet dessert tasted delicious despite what it may look like.

The professional cake decorator shaped the cake to make a ‘beer’, wrapped a large sheet of fondant around  the bottle, used edible paint to create the ‘glass effect’ and added a gold cap on top.

‘We made this Victoria Bitter longneck cake for a 60th birthday… and it was so fun,’ Tigga wrote on social media.

She noted there were different versions of the VB cake online, including a beer bottle ‘lying down’ or a can version ‘standing up’.

And so she challenged herself to make a longneck bottle cake that sits ‘vertically’.

‘So using the sweet edible paints, I painted in all the reflections that you might see on a real glass bottle just to make it look more realistic,’ she said.

‘For the label, I peeled off a real VB longneck label and I scanned it into my computer so I could get it printed on edible paper.’

To finish off her spectacular work, she popped a round sheet of fondant on top to create a gold bottle cap using edible paint.

‘It’s actually better than what I thought it was going to be. I loved the result,’ she said.

‘This looks so realistic, my granddad would 100 per cent try to pop the cap off,’ one woman wrote, along with a laughing emoji.

A second said: ‘That’s too beautiful to eat,’ while a third added: ‘Wow, what the fudge, that is awesome. That’s so realistic looking.’

Many told the baker her creation looked exactly like the ‘real thing’, while one amused woman said the cake would ‘taste way better’ than the real VB beer, which is notoriously known for its strong bitterness flavour.

Dozens of Australians said their VB-loving friends and family would ‘enjoy’ this cake.
