Fotis Dulos found piles of bloody clothes at his house after Jennifer disappeared, says his lawyer

Fotis Dulos’ lawyer claims someone else dumped bags of wife Jennifer’s bloody clothes on his porch the day she vanished – as the case against him is dropped after his suicide

  • Dulos killed himself last month while awaiting trial on murder charges
  • His wife Jennifer vanished in May and her body has never been found
  • He was filmed with his then girlfriend Michelle Troconis dropping off bags which contained her bloody clothes that night
  • When he was charged with her murder, he insisted he was innocent
  • On Tuesday, his lawyer Norm Pattis said for the first time that the bags had been dropped off on his back porch
  • He said he panicked, decided to dispose of them that night and that there was a witness to him finding them on his porch
  • Pattis wanted the trial to go ahead so that he could clear Dulos’ name posthumously
  • The judge denied his request; Troconis is still awaiting trial on conspiracy to commit murder charges

Fotis Dulos’ lawyer has claimed someone else dropped the bags full of bloody clothes that belonged to his estranged wife Jennifer on his back porch the day she vanished in May and that he only disposed of them later because he panicked.

Dulos, 52, killed himself while out on bail awaiting trial for Jennifer’s murder last month.

He had long denied having anything to do with her death despite DNA evidence linking him to it – like her blood in the car he was driving that day – and the fact that he was seen on surveillance cameras dropping off the bags of bloody clothes.

Jennifer vanished in May after taking the couple’s five children to school in New Canaan, Connecticut.

She and Dulos were in the middle of a contentious divorce and custody battle, and she had written in court documents that she was afraid of him.

In light of Dulos’ suicide, the case against him has been dropped.

His lawyer, Norm Pattis, however wants to pursue the case to clear his late client’s name.

He told a judge on Tuesday that someone else killed Jennifer and was trying to frame Dulos.

He also spoke for the first time about the trash bags.

Dulos, in a suicide note before he gassed himself in his garage, said: ‘The state will not rest until I rot in jail.

‘My attorney can explain what happened with the bags on Albany Avenue.

‘Everything else is a story fabricated by the law enforcement.’

He also wrote: ‘If you are reading this I am no more.

‘I refuse to spend even an hour more in jail for something I had NOTHING to do with. Enough is enough.”

‘If it takes my head to end this, so be it.’

Albany Avenue was one of the locations he and Troconis were seen dropping off the bags.

Pattis also claimed that someone else was with Dulos when they discovered the bags on the porch and that he would have testified about it at trial.

Pattis, pushing for the trial to move forward even though Dulos is dead, said he believed he would have been found innocent.

‘It is my hope that someday, somewhere we will get a fact finder to listen to all of the evidence in this case to prove that Mr. Dulos did not murder his wife but was himself a victim of a system that rushed to judgment.

‘I believe that had this case been tried that Mr. Dulos would have been found not guilty.

‘If Mrs. Dulos is in fact dead, we have reason to believe she met her end at the hands of a third party unrelated to Mr. Dulos and without his knowledge,’ he said.

Judge Gary White dismissed his request.

Troconis is still awaiting trial on conspiracy to commit murder charges as is lawyer, Kent Mawhinney, Dulos’ friend.

They have both pleaded not guilty.
