A four-year-old girl has been ‘sexually assaulted’ at Tennant Creek just months after another young girl was attacked.

The young girl was airlifted to Alice Springs Hospital earlier this week to be treated after the alleged assault, Sky News reported.

The alleged sexual assault is thought to have happened Sunday night before the victim was treated early Monday morning.

The alleged sexual assault comes months after a two-year-old girl was sexually abused by a man in in Tennant Creek in February.

Police had arrested a man over the incident but Northern Territory police said on Thursday that investigations had identified new information that cleared the accused and led to the arrest of another man.
