Kamala Harris raised $12 million in last three months, her campaign reveals, less than half Pete Buttigieg’s astonishing haul

  • Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign raised $12 million in the last three months
  • But it was about half of Pete Buttigieg’s astonishing $24.8 million haul
  • Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders also outraised Harris
  • Harris had a viral debate moment last week but it came too late to help her second-quarter fundraising numbers
  • But she brought in almost half a million selling ‘that little girl was me’ t-shirts

Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign raised $12 million in the last three months, she announced on Friday, which is less than half of rival Pete Buttigieg’s impressive haul.

The California senator’s total for the second quarter of 2019 was also below Joe Biden’s and Bernie Sanders’.

Harris caught fire last week in the first Democratic presidential debate but her viral moment appeared to late to help her fundraising this quarter. The debate was June 27 and the fundraising period ended June 30.

But helping her cash totals was sales of her ‘That Little Girl Was Me’ t-shirts, which retails for $29.99 on her campaign website.

The campaign announced 1,400 of the shirts were sold, making it the best-selling item in her online store for the month of June – despite not being available until June 28.

The shirts brought in nearly half a million dollars to her campaign coffers.

Harris’ campaign has capitalized on her viral debate moment which occurred when she confronted Biden about his stance on the school busing issue. She noted how the program helped one little girl in California and said: ‘That little girl was me.’

She raised $2 million post-debate and saw a spike in her poll numbers as a result.

Harris is in second place in the RealClearPolitics polling average of the Democratic presidential nomination.

But that wasn’t enough to make her a top recipient in second quarter donations.

While her $12 million from 279,000 people – at an average contribution of $24 each – was a respectable haul, it didn’t come close to Buttigieg’s.

The South Bend Mayor raised an astonishing $24.8 million. Biden, meanwhile, raised $21.5 million and Sanders raised $18 million.

Harris has raised $23 million so far in her presidential campaign.

‘The momentum Kamala Harris is seeing right now is buoyed by hundreds of thousands of grassroots supporters who believe in her 3AM Agenda to address the issues keeping people up at night,’ said Harris Campaign Manager Juan Rodriguez in a statement.
