Harry Dunn’s friends are almost hit by an ‘American car’ driving on the wrong side of the road

Two friends of Harry Dunn have shared the terrifying moment they were nearly hit by an American car almost a year after he died in a car crash.

Chelsea Wilson and Ed Bunker were leaving a friend’s house when they turned on the A4421 in Caversfield, a well-known enclave of US and CIA personnel, at around 4.25pm on July 5.

Footage however shows a left-hand-drive Chevrolet Camaro with no licence plates heading directly towards them on the wrong side of the road.

The driver of the American vehicle appears to make no attempts to stop or to change lanes in time.

Ed said the driver of the car was a bald male and that the two cars missed each other by a matter of inches, leaving both him and Chelsea shaken.

They managed to capture the incident on camera as Chelsea had her phone out and had been recording one of her favourite songs on the radio.

Footage shows the pair making a right-hand turn only to discover the bright yellow Chevrolet driving on the wrong side of the road. Ed can be heard beeping the horn loudly to get the other driver’s attention and warn him of his mistake.

In a post published on Medium, Ed asked: ‘Are the authorities ever going to do anything about this? After Harry died, now more than ever we have an absolute right to feel safe on the roads where we live.’

‘Many of us just don’t feel safe anymore. We are scared and angry. I have reported the incident to the police.’

Harry Dunn, 19, died following a road traffic collision, on 27 August 2019.

The British lad had been riding his motorcycle near Croughton, Northamptonshire, near the exit to RAF Croughton, when it collided head-on with a car travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the other car, a Volvo XC90, was American, Anne Sacoolas, a former CIA operative and the wife of Jonathon Sacoolas, a US government employee working at the United States Air Force listening station at RAF Croughton.

Sacoolas, whose husband Jonathan Sacoolas worked as a technical assistant at the base, had been driving on the wrong side of the road when leaving the airbase.

It is understood RAF Croughton is to become the United States intelligence services’ listening station for the entire African continent, with vast buildings required for the base

She fled back across the Atlantic with the help of the US embassy, claiming she had diplomatic immunity and so could not been arrested in the UK.

In December, the Crown Prosecution Service charged Sacoolas with causing death by dangerous driving.

The Home Office then issued an extradition request for her return, which was refused by the US the following month.

Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn are bringing legal action against Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and Northamptonshire Police, claiming they allowed Sacoolas to leave the UK unlawfully.
