A shocking video captured the moment a three-year-old autistic boy pulled an air-conditioning unit out from the window of his seventh floor apartment – and then climbing out through the opening.
A nanny cam showed the terrifying moment when little Jariel Malave, who had been pulling on the AC unit cord for several minutes, finally yanked it free.
It left a wide open space for Jariel to climb out onto scaffolding that was around the building.

The boy’s mother had installed the unit by herself instead of using a professional to do it
Jeanine Malave, a mother-of-three said she couldn’t believe what had happened.
‘I looked left, looked right – I didn’t see my son,’ she said.
Malave said she feared her son had fallen to his death, but incredibly he was sat playing on the scaffolding right outside the window the other side of the building.
A next door neighbor saw saw the toddler through her kitchen window as she was washing dishes according to PIX11.

‘Give me your hand, little one. Give me your hand,’ Maria Espertome said in Spanish through the window.
The youngster was so engrossed with playing that he didn’t hear her cries.
Espertome then screamed for Malave to come over to her apartment for her to bring her son back inside.
‘I almost fainted,’ she said.

Property managers for the New York City Housing Authority say Malave is at fault because she installed the AC unit herself.
Malave claims she had no choice after the NYCHA ignored her requests for her air con unit to be installed.
‘How many times I have to tell them ‘I need a box, I need an AC?” she said.
Jariel is fine and is completely unaware of the danger he was in.
Malave says she wants everyone to hear her story so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
