Hervey Bay citizens arrest after would-be robber pulled a knife on pub staff

Three men who made a dramatic citizen’s arrest after an alleged attempted armed robbery have said that all they want in return for their heroics is cold beer.

Jayden Andress and Nathan Griffiths were at the Hervey Bay Boat Club in Queensland on Tuesday night and jumped in to stop the alleged robbery.

A 28-year-old man armed with a knife allegedly entered the Buccaneer Drive premises and approached the gaming area about 7.20pm, 7News reported.

He then allegedly demanded a measly ten dollars off a staff member before pulling the knife on her.

It was then that the trio leaped into action.

After one of them stepped in to help, Mr Andress said he also had to get in on the action.

He said he didn’t disarm the man but ‘helped get him to the ground’ before Mr Griffiths then helped out.

‘He was on the floor by then, they needed one more guy, obviously I was the man,’ Mr Griffiths said.

‘I jumped over the bar, pinned him down, and we wouldn’t let him go until police came.’
