Home Delivery System: What you should know about Amazon’s Scout

The future of the delivery of goods lies in the use of automated robots moving them from warehouses and shops to customers’ doorsteps. Undeniably, robots will be utilized in lugging groceries from the market to the kitchen and replacing humans in this process.

Robots can also be used to drop off parcels. Soon all your Amazon Prime products will be delivered to your doorstep courtesy of Amazon’s Scout, which is a new 6-wheeled automated delivery robot designed to follow the sidewalks.

Scout will work day time, weekdays only.

Amazon is yet another e-commerce enterprise to try this kind of technology for short-haul home deliveries following experiments done by other large companies such as Starship Technologies and Segway.

In an announcement made on January 23, Amazon indicated that it would start field testing the Scout in areas such as Snohomish County, targeting customers who request same-day delivery.

It is apparent that the retail giant would limit the testing to daytime from Monday to Friday, especially when sidewalk traffic is relatively low.

In addition, Scout will be accompanied by a human chaperone who will ensure that the robot can safely and efficiently maneuver through the traffic alongside pedestrians or anything in their paths.

Using Scouts translates to cheaper charges for product delivery

Amazon has been experimenting with ways to make its delivery process more efficient, faster, and cheaper. Most of the efforts have been directed to the “last mile” which focuses on simplifying the delivery process from the store to customers’ homes.

Amazon anticipates success from this project because the Amazon Prime Air, involving a drone delivery initiative launched in 2013, has reportedly been effective in helping the company increase goods delivery to its clients.

The new autonomous sidewalk rover will give Amazon the opportunity to deliver goods at a cheaper price. Once packages are delivered, customers can pay using digital platforms such as PayPal, Skrill, or Interac.

While at it, customers may consider using a safe and trustworthy payment provider as opposed to randomly picking a payment method and end up disappointed.

Interac has been recognized as a legit payment method that is very popular with online buyers and casino players as it offers almost immediate withdrawals and safe deposits. there are even casino review sites with dedicated Interac pages.

Finally, there are almost 60,000 ATMs that can be accessed through the Interact platform.

Home delivery using robots has been tested and found fit

The use of robots for home delivery is not a new thing. Amazon has joined the ground-based delivery robot game a bit late because the field is filled with players who have many years of real experience.

For instance, Starship launched its robot delivery channel in the year 2014 and it is known for banking up to 150,000 miles of driving in a month.

Another company, Marble, launched its delivery robots in 2017, while Kiwi robots have always been effective in delivering food to the company’s customers, especially those at the UC Berkeley Campus.

More people are now using the digital platform to shop. Retailers such as Amazon must up their game with regard to offering competitive delivery services. The Scout will reach out to more customers and probably lead to higher customer satisfaction.
