  • Claims he and his wife saw ‘five to seven’ of the rodents within a few minutes

A party-goer was horrified to spot what appears to be a large nest of mice scurrying around a Pret A Manger restaurant late at night.

David Nassim, 51, and wife Limor received a Halloween fright when they allegedly saw at least five mice running under the counter of the closed eatery on October 31.

He recorded the off-putting incident through the window of Pret’s Cranbourn Street branch in Leicester Square, central London.

Walking past the shop front late at night, David, a regular Pret customer, saw a rodent emerge from underneath the metal mesh cashier’s counter.

‘Look, look, there it is. Look at that mouse,’ David says as he records the mouse wandering around, most likely sniffing for food.

Revealing the street name as he says: ‘Pret A Manger, Cranbourn Street. Full of mice.’ The mice then disappeared back under a counter.

Pret have since said they will close the shop while they investigate the incident.

‘We walked past a Pret and looked inside, there’s food and drinks piled up and loads of mice running around,’ David told the Mirror.

‘At least five, or maybe even six or seven of them, they were sprawling under the tables.

‘Thinking of all their droppings and health and safety issues, it’s scary.’

David says that he had sent the video the Pret as part of a complaint, but had not heard a response.

A spokesperson at Pret A Manger said: ‘At Pret, we expect all our shops to have extremely high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

‘As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we brought in pest control to investigate.

‘We are closing the shop until we resolve this issue.’

This is not the first time rodents have been spotted at London branches of the popular eatery.

In September, MailOnline reported on sightings of a rat in the company’s Wardour Street shop in Soho.

Seen at around 11.55pm on September 6, the woman who recorded the incident said she ‘would never visit this store again’.

‘It’s definitely put me off purchasing anything that’s made on site as I don’t understand how a rat would be able to get in plus you don’t know if it was able to go into the kitchen.’
