His Islamic kufi headwear is knocked off his head as he is forced to the ground.

Before he is able to get up the victim is savagely kicked in the head.

The group appear to be leaving and the civilian scrambles to his feet, but one of the assailants then turns around and proceeds to kick him again with force and knock him to the floor before repeatedly stamping on his head.

CAIR Director of Maryland Outreach Zainab Chaudry said: ‘It’s time to take back our streets. CAIR condemns this horrific incident in the strongest terms possible.

‘We recognize this attack has the elements of a possible hate crime in which the victim’s religious head covering was forcibly removed before he was knocked to the ground.

‘We call for a swift and transparent investigation that will bring the suspects to justice.’

She noted that the timing of the attack and the victim’s religious attire indicate that he may have been returning from a morning prayer service.
