The killer of a pregnant woman slipped in through an unlocked kitchen door and knifed her to death next to the cot built for her unborn son – but five days on police still do not know if they knew each other.
MailOnline has pieced together the movements of London’s most wanted man who was seen on CCTV sprinting away from Kelly-Mary Fauvrelle’s house in Thornton Heath at 3.30am on Saturday.
Police are investigating whether it was a complete stranger who murdered the 26-year-old, who was eight months pregnant – but are keeping an ‘open mind’ about his motive, the detective in charge has said.
Other major lines of inquiry include whether it was a targeted hit on Miss Fauvrelle – or another person in the house – or if it was a burglary gone wrong, MailOnline understands.
The wanted man, who is shown on camera wearing gloves even though it was hottest night of 2019 and is clutching something rigid in his hands, had not needed to ‘force entry’ into the south London property, it has emerged.
He used a communal passageway to enter Kelly-Mary’s garden at around 3.15am and then got into the kitchen via an open window or unlocked door, Scotland Yard has said.
The murder victim’s mother, two brothers, sister and baby nephew were sleeping upstairs when she was knifed to death.
Her family were woken by her screams but never saw the killer who fled as they rushed downstairs and was seen sprinting away down Raymead Avenue towards Colliers Water Lane at 3.26am.
Kelly-Mary’s older sister found the victim with multiple stab wounds in the property’s dining room at the rear of the property, which had been converted into a bedroom for her and a nursery for her son whose cot was ready for him.
Riley, who was delivered by paramedics at the scene, died in hospital yesterday with his father, who has not been named, by his side.

Her local MP Steve Reed, who told PMQs yesterday afternoon: ‘The police now believe this may have been a random attack by someone unknown to the family’.
But Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman said last night: ‘I am aware that there is some speculation about whether Kelly’s attacker was known to her. At this stage we simply are not in a position to say and we must retain an open mind’.
‘One of the key aims of my investigation is to build a complete picture of Kelly’s life and the people with whom she was in contact, but I also need to consider other possible scenarios.
‘Members of the public may have useful information, and I am today reiterating my appeal for anyone who may know anything that will assist the investigation to make contact as soon as possible.’
Mr Norman continued: ‘The attack took place in Kelly’s bedroom on the ground floor and at the rear of the premises.
‘In terms of access there is a communal passageway and potentially the obvious access point would be through the kitchen.
‘There is no sign of a forced entry but that does not mean, through accident, the premises were insecure.’
He added the murder weapon, which could be a kitchen knife, is yet to be found.
Mr Norman was unable to say whether Ms Fauvrelle’s attacker was known to her and officers are keeping an open mind.
Detectives are trying to build a picture of Ms Fauvrelle’s life and the people she knew.
‘What is very clear is she was very happy to be pregnant,’ Mr Norman said.
‘She was very much looking forward to being a mother. She was popular but also a very private person.’

Detectives are investigating if a stranger could have killed her – but are keeping an ‘open mind’ about whether the murderer knew Kelly-Mary or her family.
The Metropolitan Police yesterday released CCTV footage of a key suspect seen walking towards the address before running away from the scene minutes later.
In the footage a man is seen walking towards Ms Fauvrelle’s address at 3.11am and running back just over 10 minutes later.
The force are appealing for anyone who may know the potential suspect to contact police.
DCI Norman said: ‘It was a savage and sustained attack on a clearly and obviously heavily pregnant woman, which has had catastrophic results.
‘She has suffered from multiple stab wounds. When the family got into her room, she was clearly critically injured.’
Ms Fauvrelle was eight months pregnant when the attack took place. She had previously been told by doctors she could not have children after a cervical cancer scare.
Her child clung on to life for four days, until he passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Addressing the newly released CCTV, he said: ‘The release of this footage is the next step in what has been a fast-paced, and extremely challenging investigation.
‘We need to identify the man shown in the footage urgently, even if only to eliminate him from our enquiries. I need to hear from anyone who knows who he is.’
Ms Fauvrelle was a postwoman and member of the Communication Workers Union and her devastated colleagues paid tribute to her yesterday.
Croydon and Sutton Amal Branch secretary Angela Whitter told the Daily Mirror: ‘Kelly had previously survived a cervical cancer scare and had been told by doctors that she would be unable to have a baby.
‘So she was absolutely over the moon when she became pregnant and was always smiling and happy at work.’
She added: ‘People were always complementing her on her growing ‘bump’ and she was so looking forward to her baby’s arrival.
‘Everyone at Croydon Delivery Office is totally devastated by this.’
Her brother said ‘words can’t describe’ the pain of their family.
He said: ‘You couldn’t have been a better sister and I thank you for always being there for me, helping whenever I needed it.
‘A beautiful person whose life has been taken away from her.
‘I’ll stay strong, so you’ll always be in my thoughts. I love you more than you can possibly imagine.’

Her friend Opaline Meunier posted on Facebook: ‘Our sweetest, nicest Kellymary Fauvrelle was taken away from this world in the most brutal way.
‘I will always remember her as a lovely, so funny, joyful, sparkling and full of life friend. We shared so dear memories in English class.’
Another friend, Aaleeah Knowles, praised Miss Fauvrelle’s ‘business mind’ and protective nature.
She posted on Facebook: ‘I’m devastated to hear what happened to you. You didn’t deserve this. You’ve touched my soul and my emotions are all over the place for you.
‘I’ll never forget you because how could I. You were amazingly intelligent and bright and I’m just devastated, never forgotten.’
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder. One, aged 37, was released with no further action, and a second, aged 29, has been released on bail until early August.
The death of Ms Fauvrelle’s child takes the total number of murders being investigated in London by Scotland Yard so far this year to 67.
Five people were killed in just 25 hours over the weekend – the other three being in Lambeth and Newham on Saturday, and Southwark on Sunday.
