Hugh Jackman shares gym selfies while proclaiming he takes ‘no days off’ as he prepares to play Wolverine again at age 55

Hugh Jackman hit the gym early on Saturday morning and shared a short video clip of his workout to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

In it, The Greatest Showman star, 55, lifted an impressively heavy set of weights to work out his biceps.

The video showed how hard his muscles were flexing – all of the veins on them were popping.

The X-Men actor is prepping to reprise his role as Wolverine, a role he has played since 2000 – and he recently shared his shocking diet.

He captioned the video: ‘No days off – except for tomorrow. #becomingwolverineagain.’

Jackman is training to play Wolverine again in Deadpool 3 alongside his good friend Ryan Reynolds, 47.

The 6’3″ Australian actor is on a very strict and lean diet to slip into the unforgiving costume of the live-action Marvel superhero.

Last week he showed off what he was eating to obtain the muscular but lean physique for the role.

One of his diet meals consisted of just three very tiny slices of fish, some steamed asparagus and a slice of lemon.

Another was simply one slice of fish and some beans.

And a third meal was nothing but a dollop of cottage cheese and chopped up broccoli.

Generally, men require about 2500 calories a day to simply maintain their weight, suggesting Hugh will once again stack on the muscle to play the legendary comic book character.

However, Hugh revealed last year that he was consuming up to 8,000 calories a day to ensure his body was in top shape to play the iconic superhero.

Last year, Hugh revealed it takes him six months of hardcore training to physically prepare for his return as Wolverine.

‘I’m not doing any other work,’ Hugh declared to Chris Wallace on  Who’s Taking to Chris Wallace, according to Complex. ‘I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.’

Hugh started playing Wolverine in the first X-Men movie in 2000 and the character’s enormous popularity led to him reprising the role in several sequels and spin offs.

Deadpool 3 is slated for release later this year.
