Husband ‘gambles his wife to his friends before beating her when she refuses to leave with them’

A husband in Pakistan allegedly lost his wife in a gamble to friends and then beat her once she refused to go with them.

Police arrested Ali Raza, of Chiniot, after his wife Mehwish reported the alleged abuse which occurred on Saturday night.

Following the gambling game with three of his friends, Raza is accused of attacking his wife with a sharp weapon and leaving her with severe injuries, Geo TV reported.

He claims the suspect wanted to murder his daughter instead of just leaving her, Dawn reported.

Jehangir entered his ex-wife’s family home and took her hostage in one of the rooms before using scissors to remove her tongue and disfigure her hands and face.

Thankfully, the victim’s mother was in the house and rushed to get help from those nearby.

The locked door was then smashed in and the victim was rescued before being taken to hospital.

Yet the woman’s father reportedly claims that if his daughter had been left with her former husband for longer, he would have killed her.

Hafizabad District Police Officer (DPO) Sajid Kiani confirmed that the suspect had been arrested and a pair of scissors recovered from his possession.
