Molly Meldrum’s ‘secret wife’ is revealed – as ‘wedding guest’ claims ‘he only married her to annoy his friend Elton John’
A bizarre rumour is circulating about Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum’s wilder years living in 1970s London.
This week, The Source alleged that the veteran music icon secretly married an Australian woman named Lynne in a star-studded wedding ceremony almost 50 years ago.
The 80-year-old presenter, who is bisexual, was apparently living with Lynne when they decided to marry in a civil ceremony, although it’s unclear whether they were dating at the time.
According to publication, a ‘prominent Melbourne figure’ who attended the ceremony recently lifted the lid on what really happened in a lengthy social media post.
‘Molly decided he was going to get married to [Lynne]. So a civil ceremony wedding was arranged and he asked me and a guy who was involved with the English band, Slade, to be his 2 witnesses,’ the guest apparently wrote.

They claimed there were around 25 guests, most of whom were ‘Australian and English people in the music industry.’
‘I don’t know what happened to the wedding photos, or his marriage, but I signed his marriage certificate as a witness,’ they added.
The user then alleged that Molly married the woman to ‘upset his good friend Elton John’, although it’s unclear how it would have impacted him.

Lynne is allegedly still alive, and according to The Source, even commented on the post: ‘Thanks for the memories’.
However, another source told the publication that Molly and Lynne’s wedding wasn’t legal, and was simply an ‘excuse for a party’.
Molly is currently in a long-term relationship with businessman Yan Wongngam.
