In fur a swim! Adorable shaggy pooch enjoys doggy paddling in a river as she tries to keep cool

  • Video shows a mop-like creature slowly shuffle into shallow water on a river
  • But after padding about it becomes clear it is actually a Komondor-breed dog
  • Footage taken on the banks of the Neman River in Kaunas, Lithuania

This is the moment an adorably hairy pooch took to water, and instantly turned into a mop.

The video shows Hanga, a Komondor-breed dog, float eerily like a sea creature on a calm river as she tried to cool down in the summer heat.

The footage was taken on the banks of the Neman River in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Hanga and her owner had gone to the tranquil spot to relax on a weekend.

Feeling the heat of the summer sun, she decided to take a dip in the cool river.

But as soon as she moved off the river bank into the water, Hanga appeared to slump into a pile of fur that bobbed strangely on the surface.

Despite having to drag around her weighty coat, Hanga looked to be enjoying herself and lapping up the water.

Komondors, which are a national treasure in Hungary, grow a thick corded coat which can weigh around 30kg.

Strikingly similar to a mop, the dogs don’t usually take to water very keenly, as it can take days for their coats to dry out.

The filmer said: ‘On a hot summer day here in Lithuania, my Komondor Hanga decided to cool herself down in a river.’

Hanga has become somewhat of a social media star, and now has over 3,400 followers on Instagram.
