Inside the ‘dream life’ of Steven Gerrard’s wife Alex Curran as she enjoys £10k-a-month mansion in  Bahrain after shunning strict Saudi Arabia

Steven Gerrard’s wife Alex Curran is said to be living a ‘dream life’ in Bahrain after she shunned super strict Saudi Arabia.

The WAG, 41, is enjoying the luxuries of a £10k- a-month mansion in Hamala, while the former footballer, 44, is managing Al-Ettifaq football club.

Bahrain’s capital is located just an hours’ drive from the eastern Saudi Arabian city of Dammam, where Gerrard is coach of its largest club.

WAGs living in Saudi, where alcohol is banned, have complained of cultural restrictions being placed on them and facing abuse over how they are dressed, with some claiming that they have even been refused entry to shops and malls for showing off part of their arms, legs or chest.

After turning down a house near Steven’s reported £15million per year job, they now reside in the Gulf nation, where laws are more relaxed.

The family live in a luxury six-bedroom villa in the Hamala area of the city close to members of Bahrain’s royal family and others from the country’s elite.

It costs around £10,000 per month and comes with its own swimming pool, tennis court and games room and is in a compound behind a high gate.

Alex is able to enjoy Bahrain’s lavish malls, restaurants and bars which have earned it the reputation of being the party capital of the Gulf region.

As part of his contract, Gerrard and his family have also been given free membership of the country’s two most exclusive health clubs which are based at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel and the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

The couple, who married in 2007, share three girls and a boy; Lilly Ella, 19; Lexie, 17; Lourdes, 12 and Lio, 7.

They are enrolled at Bahrain’s most exclusive English language school, which is in the world’s top 100 and where fees are almost £11,000 per year each.

The family were based in the UK until 2015, when Steven left LA to manage Glasgow’s Rangers. He then managed Aston Villa in November 2021.

Earlier this year, Steven was handed a two-year contract extension on his existing deal, in a move that will keep him in Dammam until 2027.

He is the fourth highest paid football coach in the world, but Al-Ettifaq are only eighth in the Saudi Pro League despite strong investment.

The sportsman’s position had been considered under threat due to a winless run of nine games in all competitions, during which time they have scored three goals.

‘This is very pleasing for myself and my family and feels like recognition for a lot of hard work and commitment,’ the former England captain told Al-Ettifaq’s official website at the time.
