Iris Apfel marks 100th birthday with an eyewear collection inspired by her own unique style 

To celebrate her upcoming 100th birthday in August, Iris Apfel has partnered with Zenni on a 100-piece eyewear collection.

‘I adore accessories and I think glasses can absolutely make an outfit,’ said the fashion icon.

The Iris Apfel Edit includes 5 categories of eyewear styles, including “Live Colorfully,” “Signature Style” and “Iris for Kids.”

Iris favors bright colors and stands behind a more is more aesthetic. ‘I like clothes that are amusing,’ Iris told the Daily Mail.

For those that subscribe to the ‘less is more’ train of thought, the New York native says ‘that’s their problem.’ 

She enjoys layering her clothes, piling on the jewels and finishing it all off with a pair of statement-making glasses.

The entrepreneur, who landed a modelling contract with IMG Models in her 90’s, has always made her own rules.

In the last decade she has partnered with a number of brands including INC International Concepts, HSN and Magnum ice cream.  

With an affinity for fashion as a form of self expression and art rather than function, Iris admitted to collecting glasses long before she needed them. 

‘For me, glasses inspire or finish all of my looks. We all shouldn’t want to look the same and glasses are a fantastic way to find your own unique style and change things up.’

Like the style icon, the line of glasses is full of personality and color.  Because without color, ‘you might as well be dead,’ said Iris.
