Kanye West dropped a bomb into the center of the Kardashian universe on Thursday evening when he unleashed a furious tirade against his ex-wife Kim, accusing her of giving him no say in how their kids are raised or educated – while calling for his fellow Kardashian ‘sperm donors’ to band ‘together’.
The 45-year-old rapper’s erratic rant – which also saw him confess to having a porn addiction that ‘destroyed his family’ – was quickly branded ‘crazy’ and ‘insane’ by dedicated Kardashian supporters, while screenshots that he included of text exchanges with Kim, 41, showed the reality star begging her former spouse to ‘stop’.
While the bitter diatribe certainly raised eyebrows and serious questions about Kanye’s decision to air his grievances so publicly, it also once again shone the spotlight on a long-talked about dark cloud that has hung over the reality family’s female members for years: the so-called ‘Kardashian Curse’ that appears to have befallen many of their former love interests.
Kanye’s frustrations may have been voiced in a far-too-turbulent manner, but is there some validity to his upset?
It has been mooted on many an occasion that the Kardashian women’s romances are all destined to fail as a result of the ‘curse’ – and that the men they leave in their wake will fall subject to scandal and personal turmoil, all of which will, as a result of their oh-so public relationships, be pulled apart by millions of devoted reality fans.
Despite being branded ‘offensive’ by younger sibling Kendall Jenner and ‘stupid’ by Khloe’s former spouse Lamar Odom, the Kardashian women have never managed to completely shrug off speculation about the ‘curse’, which continues to plague them even as they move from one relationship to the next, one marriage to another.
Granted, their position as one of the most famous (and most public) families in the world has caused their love lives to come under far more microscopic examination than most relationships would ever have to endure – but that constant attention has also highlighted multiple instances where the alleged ‘curse’ has come into play.
In Kanye’s – albeit one-sided – opinion, the men who find themselves swept up in the Kardashians’ orbit are treated as little more than ‘sperm donors’, with the rapper calling out Khloe’s ex Tristan Thompson, Kourtney’s ex Scott Disick, and Kylie Jenner’s current partner Travis Scott, insisting that they are all ‘in this together].

‘Calling my fellow [sperm donors],’ he wrote in an Instagram caption alongside a screenshot of three names – Tristan, Trav, Scott. ‘We in this [together].’
He also poked fun at reports that Kim’s most recent ex Pete Davidson is undergoing ‘trauma therapy’ after being repeatedly harassed online by the rapper, writing: ‘Ask Pete how those tattoos of my kids doing in the trauma unit.’
His call to the other Kardashian men came after Kanye vented his frustrations over what he sees as his lack of control over how the four children he shares with Kim – North, nine, Chicago, four, Saint, six, and Psalm, three – are being raised and educated. They are currently all enrolled at an elite private preschool in Los Angeles, however he wants them to be sent to a school he recently founded and named after his late mother, Donda Academy.
In his Instagram rant, Kanye suggested that Kim has refused him any decision-making power over their kids’ upbringing, with one text sent by the rapper to his ex reading: ‘We need to talk in person. You don’t have say so of where the kids go to school. Why get say say. Cause you half white?’
He later added: ‘Imagine not having any say so on where your kids go to school.’
And to those who decried his rant as ‘crazy’, Kanye had this to say: ‘Anybody that says I’m spiraling when I express the undeniable truths is a sheep. STFU and worry about your own kids. I obviously am dealing with wars at the highest levels of control and discrimination based on the level I’m operating at. A conductor gotta turn they back to the audience to direct the orchestra.’
Kanye’s means of airing his anger may not have been the most effective, nor the most reasonable, however his frustrations over how he has seemingly been edged out of the conversation, and the ever-powerful Kardashian world, is not without its validity – and he is not the only former partner to have expressed the same kind of upset over their treatment at the hands of the reality stars and their infamous TV shows.

That is, until Mr. West confessed that romance was never the point of the over-the-top proposal. Instead, he simply wanted it to be ‘dope’.
Recalling an argument he had with the man responsible for the lighting, Kanye told radio station Power 106: ‘I said, “It’s a baseball field. What you talking about? If I wanted to be romantic, I would have gone to a small restaurant or something.”‘
Still, romance certainly appeared to be the aim of the day when the pair tied the knot in Florence, Italy, in May 2014, a milestone moment that was, of course, captured on camera and relayed to the world in a special episode of the family’s E! reality show.

All the while, Kim publicly decried her former partner’s behavior – although that certainly hasn’t stopped him from continuing to air his brutal rants against her, with his latest tirade once again thrusting the reality star’s messy love life into the spotlight, this time with her and Kanye’s children in tow.
Still, Kim and her family – including all-powerful matriarch Kris – seem determined to control the narrative, with the reality star even forwarding a personal plea from her mother to Kanye, in which the momager begged him to stop dragging her name into their public spat, insisting that it was causing her undue ‘stress’.
Kim has shared similar concerns about her former spouse’s public tirades, releasing a statement in February 2022 in response to his attacks on her over North’s TikTok posts, in which she accused the rapper of ‘causing further pain for all’ with his continued social media rants.
‘From the beginning I have wanted nothing but a healthy and supportive co-parenting relationship because it is what is best for our children and it saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way,’ she wrote.

One of the other former Kardashian partners who got dragged into Kanye’s latest Instagram attack was Khloe’s scandal-ridden ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, with whom she has welcomed two children: daughter True, born in April 2018, and a son, born via surrogate just a few weeks ago, whose name has not yet been shared.
Much like Kim and Kanye, many of the ups and downs, and twists and turns in Tristan and Khloe’s lengthy on-again, off-again relationship were played out in front of millions on the family’s reality series – most recently the moment that the devastated mother-of-two learned that her former partner had fathered a child with another woman, even as they were preparing to have their own second baby.
An emotional Khloe, 38, broke in tears as her sister Kim delivered the news over the phone, having read an exclusive DailyMail.com story about Tristan fathering a child with Houston-based personal trainer Maralee Nichols, 31. And of course, the Kardashian cameras were there to capture the whole sordid saga.
But that cheating scandal – although certainly shocking – was by no means the first time that Tristan, 31, had been unfaithful to the reality star during their five-year romance. In fact it was at least the third.
Indeed, just a few months after rumors of the couple’s relationship began to surface in September 2016, Tristan became a father for the first time with another woman, his ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig, who gave birth to their son, Prince Oliver Thompson, in December of that same year.
Tristan’s first brush with fatherhood with another woman didn’t deter Khloe however, who told the Mail on Sunday in August 2017 that their romance was the ‘best relationship ever’ and that he made her ‘feel loved and validated and secure’.

Yet, when it came time for Khloe to give birth just 48 hours later, Tristan was by her side in the delivery room – despite sources stating that the reality star was ‘beside herself’ at learning of her partner’s multiple infidelities, news that she had to hear from her younger sister Kylie.
After months of speculation over the future of their relationship, Khloe confirmed that the couple were working through their issues – much to the surprise of fans – hitting back at one Twitter user who raised questions about the romance and revealing that she and Tristan were working on ‘enormous rebuilding’.

As it turned out, that ‘strength’ would be put to the test once again just a few months later when, in September 2018, Tristan was accused of once again ‘flirting’ with another woman at a Los Angeles nightclub – with a source telling US Weekly that he ‘had his hand on her butt’ as they ‘chatted and flirted throughout the night’.
Many assumed this would be the breaking point for Khloe, particularly given that Tristan was living almost full-time in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was playing for NBA team the Cavaliers, while his partner remained in Los Angeles with their newborn daughter.
Yet, just two months later, she proved them wrong, when she jetted to Ohio to spend Thanksgiving with her beau, much to the shock of her fans.
Rumors of Tristan’s alleged infidelities would continue to dog the reality star however, with reports surfacing that he had spent Valentine’s Day in an LA bar flirting with other women, while Khloe remained at home alone.

According to sources, Tristan and Jordyn kissed at a party held at the basketball star’s LA home – surely a verifiable nail in the coffin of his beleaguered relationship with Khloe?
Interestingly, much of Khloe’s public vitriol was directed not at Tristan, but at Jordyn, who appeared on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook talk show Red Table Talk the following month to insist that she had not caused the break-up between the reality star and her NBA player beau.
The claim prompted fury from Khloe, who took to Twitter to brand Jordyn a ‘liar’, insisting that she ‘was the reason my family broke up’.
Still, the Khloe-and-Tristan saga would rage on; the NBA star was hit with claims that he had fathered another child with a different women in January 2020 – although a paternity test would prove this to be untrue. Which was perhaps all Khloe needed to hear, given that she made the decision to quarantine with the disgraced basketball star during the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
The reality star insisted that the decision to lockdown together was made solely out of a desire to best care for their daughter True and that their was nothing romantic going on between the pair – however that didn’t stop her from admitting in April 2020 that she was considering fathering another child with her disgraced ex-beau, while fueling speculation that the couple would reunite in the future.
Ironically, given Kanye’s outrage over the concept of the Kardashians treating their beaus like ‘sperm donors’, an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians saw Tristan reveal he is ‘on board’ with offering up his sperm should the reality star choose to freeze her eggs, while Khloe stated to the cameras: ‘I have no idea what my future holds with Tristan and I.
‘But I really feel a lot better knowing, ”Ok, I have five embryos in a freezer. If I want to use them, I have them there.”‘
Rumors of a reconciliation would follow the on-again, off-again couple for months – with reports even suggesting at one point that they were engaged, while others claimed that they were looking for a home together in Los Angeles with the aim of reigniting their relationship.
In May 2021, their roller coaster relationship took yet another loop when Khloe confessed on the family show that the couple had ‘made embryos together’ several months prior, and that they were searching for a surrogate together, while Tristan said that the pair would be entering their ‘new chapter’ as a ‘team’… which would have been all well and good had he not been hit with yet another cheating scandal just weeks after his heartfelt words were aired.

Through all the ups and downs, Khloe would continue to publicly mull over the status of their relationship in front of the E! cameras, revealing in one June 2021 episode of the show that she was impressed by ‘the growth and the work that he [had] done’, while adding that she ‘didn’t understand why someone would go through all that if they weren’t really serious’.
Ironically, even as her kind words about her ex were being aired, Tristan was once again busted in another embarrassing situation when he was spotted disappearing into a bedroom with three women during a birthday party in Bel Air, with sources telling DailyMail.com at the time that he emerged 30 minutes later lo9oking ‘disheveled’. Once again, the accusations were denied.
Although, as it turned out, his alleged dalliance with the trio of ladies may not have been an act of infidelity at all, because it soon emerged just hours after the story broke that he had Khloe had split up once again just a few weeks earlier.
Even as a single woman however, Khloe could not escape the drama of her relationship with baby daddy Tristan – whose previous relationship slip-ups would come back to haunt both of them in December 2021, when it was revealed that Texas-based Nichols, 31, had giving birth to the NBA player’s baby and was suing him for child support.

They wasted little time in offering up the kind of romantic drama that many reality shows can only dream of, with accusations of cheating followed by passionate reunions, which were then completely overshadowed when Kourtney discovered that she had forgotten to take her birth control and was pregnant with their first child.
Mason was born in December 2009 and several months later the couple moved to Miami with their newborn son in pursuit of what sources called a ‘fresh start’ – and in order to take part in another E! Kardashian spin-off series, Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami.
Still, Scott’s substance abuse issues would continue to rock the couple’s relationship, with the E! cameras capturing many an argument and an upset that erupted as a result of his drinking, including an infamous episode of the spin-off, documenting the moment that he punched a mirror in an apparent fit of drunken rage.
Their relationship continued to offer up endless fodder for the Kardashian cameras – and in April 2011, an episode of yet another spin-off, Kourtney & Kim Take New York, aired the awkward moment that Kourtney shut down any hopes Scott had of proposing, telling him she was ‘happy with the way things are’.

Scott has long-been a core member of the Kardashians’ inner circle, even after he and Kourtney went their separate ways, and he has continued to film the show
If the on-screen embarrassment bothered Scott however, it certainly did not deter him from continuing to film for the family’s shows, all the while growing his own profile as a bona fide celebrity of sorts… at least within the Kardashians’ world.
And his link to the family would grow even stronger, both through the arrival of two more children – and following the 2013 death of his mother, Bonnie, who passed away just a few months before his father, Jeffrey. This left Scott an orphan, and he later told the Keeping Up With the Kardashian cameras that their loss left him feeling ‘very vulnerable’.
As for their expanding brood, the pair welcomed two more children together: daughter Penelope in July 2012 – whose birth was also caught on camera for the Kardashians’ reality series – and son Reign, who arrived in December 2014.
However, any joy surrounding their third child’s birth was somewhat short-lived; just seven months later, the couple split yet again – this time seemingly for good – when DailyMail.com published exclusive images of Scott getting very hands-on with stylist Chloe Bartoli during a vacation in the South of France, while Kourtney was at home in Los Angeles with their three young children.
These photos seem to have been the straw that broke the camel’s back and the couple, who had weathered multiple on-air arguments, alcohol abuse scandals, and the toll of playing their relationship out on the world stage, broke up not long after the images went public.
Scott’s struggles with substance abuse led him to enter a rehab facility in Costa Rica in March 2015, although it was reported at the time that he spent just one week there before returning to Los Angeles, where he entered rehab once again just seven months later, this time opting to seek treatment at a location in Malibu.
The pair have documented their co-parenting ups and downs on the family reality series, and Scott even opened up to cameras last year about his split from Sofia Richie, revealing she demanded that he choose between her and Kourtney
In what is perhaps the surest sign that Scott will forever be tangled up in the Kardashian web, Kris recently spoke out to slam rumors that he had been ‘excommunicated’, saying: ‘Scott will NEVER be excommunicated from our family…’
Kourtney spoke out about her former beau’s decision to undergo rehabilitation, telling People that she hoped he would remain ‘committed to working on himself’, noting that his self-improvement would ‘only better their relationship’.
Following his stints in rehab, Scott and Kourtney’s respective love lives became the source of much public speculation – with both indulging in multiple alleged flings and relationships. He took Bella Thorne on a trip to Cannes in 2016, while she entered her first serious relationship since their split with Younes Bendijma that same year – a romance that would last for two years before they split.
And all the while, the cameras kept rolling, capturing the former couple’s spats over each other’s love lives.
Then, in September 2017, it was revealed that Scott was dating Lionel Richie’s model daughter Sofia, who was 16 years his junior, an age gap that prompted more than one raised eyebrow – including from Kourtney who is said to have found the relationship ‘s little weird’, according to US Weekly.
Scott remained a permanent member of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians ‘cast’, with he and Kourtney openly documenting their co-parenting ups and downs, even as his relationship with Sofia heated up. Then in 2019, the model made her first appearance in the show, in which she accused her boyfriend of acting ‘more sophisticated’ when he was in the presence of Kourtney.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Scott and Sofia were understood to be quarantining together – however in May 2020, he entered rehab again, this time to deal with ‘past trauma’, he would later reveal on the family reality show. The cameras also documented Kourtney’s horror as she learned that someone had leaked a picture of Scott at the facility in Colorado – prompting him to check out just one week later.
Then, days after he returned home, he and Sofia split, with Scott later revealing that their break-up came as the result of an ultimatum handed to him by the model-turned-actress, who demanded that he choose between her and his former partner.
‘She was like, “I don’t want to share you as a boyfriend with Kourtney,”‘ he revealed on KUWTK. ‘And then she literally said with an ultimatum, “You have to choose: Me or Kourtney.”‘
To this day, Scott remains a seemingly-unmovable piece on the Kardashian board, despite his ex moving on with her new husband Travis – whose wedding her former partner was noticeably absent from. Still, with Kris rushing to defend her pseudo-son-in-law against rumors of an ‘excommunication’, the question remains whether he will ever be able to untangle himself from the Kardashian clan?
