Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy (pictured left) has reportedly been suspended after he became embroiled in a bitter row with Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron (pictured right) over sending aid to Gaza. The Foreign Office allegedly lodged a complaint against Levy, who worked as an English-language spokesman for the Israeli government, after he commented on a post by Lord David Cameron earlier this month, according to Israel ‘s Channel 12.

Lord Cameron had urged 'to allow more trucks into Gaza as the fastest way to get aid to those who need it' on March 8. Levy, 33, replied in a since deleted post on X: 'I hope you are also aware there are NO limits on the entry of food, water, medicine, or shelter equipment into Gaza, and in fact the crossings have EXCESS capacity.'

Levy added: 'Test us. Send another 100 trucks a day to [border crossing] Kerem Shalom and we'll get them in.' He also told Lord Cameron and the Government to send more aid and 'we'll make sure it gets in' and said the flow of aid into Gaza had actually increased.

He wrote: 'It is factually incorrect that the flow of aid has not increased. Last week we had a record 277 trucks. Over the past 2 weeks, there have been nearly 50% MORE food trucks entering compared with before the war. Israel's crossings have excess capacity and if the UK wants more aid to enter Gaza, it should send it and we'll make sure it gets in.'

This caused the Foreign Office to write to the Israeli government, asking if the 'Cameron-critical' post reflected Israel's official stance. Levy was reportedly suspended shortly after.

Levy, who was born and raised in London before moving to Israel in 2014, has reportedly been suspended at home for more than a week now. He has not confirmed or denied his alleged suspension from his post and still describes himself as a spokesman for the Israeli government on X.

But Netanyahu's office confirmed his suspension to The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday. In a recent post Levy also criticised the UN, writing: 'Israel is facilitating aid into Gaza faster than the UN can distribute it, and UN officials are covering up that failure by accusing Israel of not letting aid in. It's really as simple as that.'

This comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu complained about his English-language spokespeople not being able to 'string two words together', the Times of Israel reported. But his office later said in a statement that he 'deeply values the work of his team'.

Levy took the spokesman post days after the deadly October 7 attack and has regularly represented the Israeli government on TV in front of British and American audiences. MailOnline has contacted the UK Foreign Office and Eylon Levy for comment.
