England reached 162 for four after 30 overs in the final one-day international against Australia as Perth’s new Optus Stadium opened its doors.
Jason Roy ensured a rollicking start after Australia had sent the tourists in, surviving a dismissal from a Mitchell Starc no-ball to make 49 in 46 balls.
But when he mis-timed a booming drive off Andrew Tye, the local boy claiming the first wicket at the newly opened 55,000-seat ground, it kicked off a frustrating pattern for England.

Jonny Bairstow had just started to get going when he was bowled for 44 by Starc and Alex Hales made 35 before edging Mitchell Marsh’s bouncer into his own helmet and then to point.
Eoin Morgan gave Marsh a second wicket with a hare-brained stroke leaving Joe Root (21 not out) in charge of building a winning target and securing an emphatic 4-1 series scoreline.
