Jennifer Lopez performs in a WEDDING dress but no sign of Ben Affleck at AMAs

Jennifer Lopez certainly made a bold statement and stole the show at the 2021 American Music Awards in LA on Sunday night.

While there were plenty of solid performances from artists old and new – including everyone from Olivia Rodrigo to New Kids on the Block – it was J-Lo that got tongues wagging.

She started off in an elegant gown behind an orchestra to sing her new song On My Way, from her upcoming romantic comedy Marry Me, also starring Owen Wilson.

Marry me! Jennifer Lopez performs a quick change into a WEDDING dress and throws her veil into the crowd… but there’s no sign of Ben Affleck at AMAs on Sunday night in LA

Suddenly, the 52-year-old pulled off a very impressive ‘quick change’ trick as she switched to a wedding dress.

However, there was no sign of her beau Ben Affleck at the event, who perhaps stayed home instead of appearing in the audience.

Making no mistake of her wedding-theme routine, she finished off by throwing her veil into the audience like a bouquet of flowers.

The wedding dress performance comes just a few days after J-Lo said on the Today show that she still believes in marriage.

‘I don’t know, yeah, I guess,’ she said when asked if she would walk down the aisle again. ‘I still believe in happily ever after, for sure, 100 percent.’

The actress – who has 13-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony -said she isn’t ashamed of her romantic history and is ‘really proud’ of where she is today.

Jen reconnected with her former fiancé Ben Affleck earlier this year after calling off her engagement with Alex Rodriguez.

They previously dated between 2002 and 2004 and were affectionately dubbed ‘Bennifer.’

Adding fuel to the fire, Jen’s one-time publicist Rob Shuter claimed last month that he could see the pair getting married hinting that Ben was the one who got away.

Their romance has been going from strength to strength this year which has also made the rumors swirl.

Judging by her performance, J-Lo certainly isn’t shy when it comes to trying on a dress and entertaining the idea.

Meanwhile, other performers on the night included Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Mickey Guyton and Tyler, The Creator.

Before J-Low wowed the crowd however, it was Silk Sonic – Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars – who opened the show this year.

The star duo performed their hit Smokin Out the Window to a rapturous response.

Before the show, it was revealed that their band had won the award for Favorite Song.

Chloe Bailey made a bid for solo stardom with a very sultry performance of her hit song Have Mercy.

She is best known for being in the duo Chloe x Halle with her sister, but all eyes were on Chloe the solo artist at the AMAs.

Making a grand entrance, she dropped down from the ceiling in a white caped outfit.

Country icon Carrie Underwood brought the house down, performing her duet If I Didn’t Love You with Jason Aldean.

A momentous night for fans of old-school R&B and boy-banders, for the first time ever Brown’s group New Edition (which formed in 1978) took the stage with New Kids on the Block.

Dubbed the ‘Battle for Boston’ — where both bands originated — the groups alternated performing some hits separately before coming together on the big stage.

New Kids on the Block (which consists of Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood) took the stage first and performed The Right Stuff and later Step by Step.

New Edition (which consists of Brown, Ricky Bell, Ralph Tresvant, Ronnie DeVoe, Michael Bivins, and Johnny Gill) then took over with their song Candy Girl and also later did Mr. Telephone Man and Can You Stand the Rain.

New Edition and NKOTB then joined forces to combine their respective songs Is This the End and Please Don’t Go Girl, with all 11 men dancing and singing alongside each other.

The performance marked the first time New Edition has performed at the AMAs since 1997, while NKOTB last time on the show was in 2010.

Both groups have won two AMA awards throughout the course of their careers.

The R&B band additionally has large plans for 2022 which includes a tour and a Las Vegas residency — both of which were announced around the time they signed with CAA this past summer.
