Jesinta Campbell reveals she bought her first home at the age of 21

While many Australians are still finding themselves renting well into their thirties, Jesinta Franklin (née Campbell) bought her first home at the age of 21.

The former Miss Universe finallist, who lives in a $2.3million home in Sydney’s Rose Bay with her husband Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin, told News.com.au on Friday it was her ambition to own property since she was just 15.

She said: ‘If you don’t own a home there’s nothing wrong with that, but that was my goal and what I worked towards and I made sure I educated myself about what costs would be involved.’

‘Invest in homes, not handbags’: Jesinta Campbell, the model wife of AFL star Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin, revealed on Friday how she was able to buy her first property aged 21

Jesinta, 26, added: ‘By the time I’m 40, I’m going to be having some pretty darn good holidays and have some good properties under my belt.’

The football WAG – who boasts lucrative ambassadorship deals with Christian Dior, Moet & Chandon, Tiffany & Co and Olay, among others – said buying property was achievable for young women if they’re savvy spenders.

She explained: ‘I see a lot of my girlfriends with really high credit card debts from buying the latest handbag or a nice dress. It’s really tempting because there’s a lot of pressure on women to look a certain way, but for me I would much prefer to spend a couple of grand doing up my house or my mortgage than a new handbag.’

Jesinta’s successful modelling career, with highlights including a two-year stint as a David Jones ambassador, has certainly helped her to achieve financial independence at a relatively young age.

However, she insisted that being disciplined with her spending habits is still important.

Jesinta’s $2.3million Rose Bay home was purchased before she married Sydney Swans player Buddy Franklin in a secret Blue Mountains ceremony in 2016.
