Jesinta Franklin shares snaps of Tullulah in Sydney Swans jersey as Buddy kicks his 1,000th goal

AFL Sydney Swans star Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin kicked his 1,000th career goal at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday night.

And his proud wife Jesinta Franklin (née Campbell), 30, shared adorable photos to her Instagram of their daughter Tullulah, two, cheering on her father at the grounds.

The tot looked cute as a button in a Sydney Swans jersey with ‘daddy’ emblazoned on the back, as Jesinta revealed to her fans how she proud she is of her husband.

Posting on her Instagram page, Jesinta shared a sweet snap of Buddy, 35, in the locker room carrying Tullulah on his hip, while also joined by his sister Bianca.

In her caption, Jesinta revealed how Bianca flew in from Los Angeles especially for the occasion, and praised her husband for his ‘hard work’ over the last 18 years.

‘I’ve listened to stories from Bud’s parents and sisters of his passion and dedication to football from a young age and last night was a true testament to the hard work that has gone in to not only over the last 18 years of his career, but everything that happened before that that led him to this moment,’ Jesinta shared online.

‘Being able to celebrate that with family was such an amazing moment. Love to everyone for all of your beautiful messages. I’ve said everything to Bud in person so I’ll just leave it here and say that I am just so proud.

‘Looking forward to spending the day with our family and friends, I am finally going to have a Champagne! I couldn’t manage more than a sip last night,’ she concluded.

Jesinta also took to her Instagram Stories on Friday night, sharing sweet footage of Tullulah cheering on her father from the corporate box while wearing the jersey.

Jesinta and Buddy, who married in 2016, are also proud parents to 11-month-old son Rocky.

Tens of thousands of Sydney Swans supporters swamped the Sydney Cricket Ground in celebration on Friday when Buddy booted his 1,000th career goal in top-flight AFL.

Buddy became the first player in 26 years, and the sixth overall, to reach the landmark figure when, late in the final quarter, he slotted in his fourth goal of the night from 40 metres.

It prompted the pitch invasion which halted the game between the Swans and the Geelong Cats.

Buddy’s first 580 majors came playing for the Hawthorn Hawks, with whom he won two premiership medals, between 2005 and 2013, before a move north to Sydney.

He is the only player to have kicked 1,000 goals entirely in the game’s modern era, which started in 1990 when the Australian Football League was formed from Victoria’s near century-old state league.

Buddy wasn’t the only one who was immortalised on Friday night.

As over 30,000 Swans flooded onto the SCG to celebrate his 1,000th goal, siblings Joel and Krystal Clayton seized the opportunity to honour their late grandmother and scatter her ashes on the hallowed turf in the centre square.

While most of the fans rushing onto the field had eyes only for Buddy, Krystal broke through the pack and made a beeline for the centre square.

Her brother Joel said it was a strategy to ensure they could honour their nan Edna Dixon’s wishes to have her ashes scattered at the SCG.

There was a bit of divine intervention at play as well. The siblings did not bring the ashes to the round one clash against GWS where Buddy had the opportunity to notch up the milestone, but would kick only one goal.

Joel said they were better prepared for the round two match and made sure they were ready when the big moment arrived.

‘From a footy standpoint it was such an occasion, such a big moment, but on a personal level for the family, it was quite emotional,’ Joel told ABC News.

‘We never would have had another chance to do it.’
