Karl Stefanovic is reprimanded after driving a go-kart off the track at the Australian Open

Karl Stefanovic joked that he’s been blacklisted from the Australian Open after pulling a stunt with a go-kart during a segment for Today on Friday.

The 45-year-old morning TV host was racing co-host Allison Langdon in a go-kart at the tennis tournament in Melbourne when he decided to veer off-course.

‘Here’s the thing, it turns out the Australian Open tennis officials are not very happy with us, so we may or may not be at Monday’s broadcast is what I’m saying,’ he laughed.

It started out fine, with Karl and Allison, 40, posing alongside their go-karts with their helmets strapped on. 

‘This has never looked so good, I have to say,’ said Allison, pointing out Karl’s suit and helmet ensemble. 

She then explained they had decided to settle the score on who is the better driver with a friendly race around a makeshift go-kart track.

Meanwhile, Allison had whizzed back around, already onto her second lap before Karl even left the starting line. 

After finally figuring it out, it wasn’t long before Karl sped past spectators, before deliberately going off-course. 

‘Where’s Karl gone?’ asked Allison, leaving the show’s crew scrambling to locate the rogue host.

‘I just thought I would break free a little bit…’ Karl explained, as he drove past hordes of confused people.

‘Watch out, everyone! Beep-beep!’ he called out as he sped along a pedestrian walkway.

As Karl drove celebratory circles around a tennis court, Allison finally arrived, claiming her car was ‘broken’.

‘He sabotaged me! This is the only way he can win, to sabotage me,’ she said. 

Snatching the microphone from Today’s news presenter, Tracy Vo, 36, Karl then revealed the powers that be at the Australian Open were ‘not very happy’.
