Kate Moss admits her adrenal glands and nervous system were ‘f**ked’

She is the iconic IT girl of the nineties known for her party hard ways.

And in a new interview, Kate Moss has revealed the toll her lifestyle took on her body as she claimed her adrenal glands and nervous system were ‘f**ked’.

The supermodel, 48, said she wanted to ‘fix’ them and embarked on the 12-steps to recovery programme, referencing the self-help tome, the Big Book.

During this time, Kate told Vogue: ‘I learnt to look at myself, at my shortcomings and truthfully at who I am. And not be afraid.

‘I started meditating every day, doing transcendental meditation, wild swimming… I tried everything [new].’

Adrenal glands produce hormones that help regulate your metabolism, immune system, blood pressure, response to stress and other essential functions.

This new holistic approach led to Kate’s latest business venture – Cosmoss – a wellness-focused lifestyle brand which she is set to launch this month.

The move into wellness may seem unexpected for the notorious party girl, however it is much more in line with Kate’s new priorities.

In 2020, Kate’s pal DJ Fat Tony told how she had been sober for two years as she maintains a healthy lifestyle following decades of partying.

Her producer pal, 56 – who himself has been sober for 15 years – said at the time: ‘Kate’s been clean for over two years. Me and my sober mates now have a better time than we ever did when we used to drink and take drugs.’

Kate was a member of The Primrose Hill Set – a name given to the all-star group of edgy residents of the leafy neighbourhood, who were known in their heyday for their raucous behaviour with stories of their antics becoming the stuff of legend.

After attending a week-long detox in Turkey back in June 2015, the runway sensation wound up being escorted off an easyJet flight home after her airport drinking session took a heavy turn.

The turnaround came as a shock to some given that Kate’s love of boozing, which reportedly extended to flutes of prosecco at 8am and glasses of wine and vodka at lunch, saw friends coin her the nickname ‘The Tank’.

She was famously dubbed ‘Cocaine Kate’ when she was photographed snorting the substance in 2005.

Kate couldn’t help referencing her wild past when she attended her Diet Coke collaboration launch party in July.

Asked by an audience member how she felt about her new role, it was reported that Kate quipped in response: ‘Well, I have always loved coke.’

At the time she was dating singer Pete Doherty, who has made no secret of his own drug use and addiction to heroin.

Following the scandal, Kate was dropped by seven companies including Chanel, Burberry and H&M, and had to work hard to regain her public image.

In 1998, when she was 24, she also checked into London’s celebrity-friendly rehab centre The Priory after suffering what was termed ‘exhaustion’.

Kate and Johnny were Hollywood’s ‘it’ couple when they dated from 1994 to 1998, with their relationship hitting headlines again recently when she was called to testify in his libel trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Speaking about one particularly memorable incident when they were dating, the model recalled: ‘That diamond necklace Johnny gave me, they were the first diamonds I ever owned. He pulled them out of the crack of his a**e.’

‘We were going out to dinner and he said, “I’ve got something in my bum, can you have a look,” and I was like, “what” and I put my hand down his trousers and I pulled out a diamond necklace. That diamond necklace.’

Johnny was no stranger to grand romantic gestures, and in honour of Kate’s 32nd birthday, he famously splashes out £750 on filling their bath tub at London’s Portobello Hotel with Champagne.

Talk also turned to Kate’s romance with Pete Doherty whom she dated on and off from 2005 to 2007.

The pair were known for their love of partying and also festivals, with the pair famously being the leaders in Glastonbury fashion and inspiring a range of festival looks for fellow revellers.

Discussing one of their times at Glastonbury she recalled: ‘It was really muddy that year and you had to wear a welly. It doesn’t matter what you wear on top, as long as you can get around from A to B, that’s what you have to do at festivals.’

Reflecting on one of her iconic looks she continued: ‘And those were Alexander McQueen shorts – I was going out with Pete Doherty at the time so I was wearing glow in the dark beads that he’d given me!

‘That bag survived five Glastonbury’s you could get so much in it, it was like a T.A.R.D.I.S, it was amazing.’

Kate and Pete’s relationship has come under scrutiny again in recent times following the release of the rocker’s autobiography, where he detailed several of their explosive rows.

Meanwhile, Kate’s relationship with Johnny also hit headlines once again over the summer when the model was called to testify on his behalf and squash Amber Heard‘s claim that he once pushed his supermodel ex down a flight of stairs.

During Amber’s testimony, the actress alleged that Johnny once shoved Kate down a flight of stairs – however, according to Kate – the actor actually helped her after she accidentally slipped.

Kate said during her testimony that Johnny never ‘pushed her or threw her down any stairs,’ in fact, she said that he tended to her after she tripped during a trip they took to Jamaica together.

‘We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did. There had been a rainstorm and as I left the room I slid down the stairs,’ she recalled, while testifying via video link. ‘I hurt my back, and I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened.’

She said Johnny came running back to help her, adding that he ‘carried her to her room and got her medical attention.’

When asked directly by Johnny’s team if the Pirates of the Caribbean star ever pushed her down the stairs, she replied, ‘No. No, he never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs,’ she told the court.

Kate and Johnny dated for three years in the ’90s, after they met at a New York City café.

And as two of the biggest names in Hollywood, the stars’ high-profile romance quickly became one of the most talked about pairings of the time.

Although the pair were often spotted packing on the PDA on romantic trips around the globe and often attended glamorous events side by side, their relationship also had a darker side to it that embroiled the pair in scandal and controversy, and led them to be featured in many a headline.

They were seen getting into heated arguments more than once, and on one occasion, a disagreement between them led to Johnny being arrested for trashing a hotel room.
