Katie Holmes sports wet hair and camel-colored, sherpa-lined coat while stepping out in NYC

No time for a blow dry! Busy Katie Holmes emerges with wet hair after opening of her off-Broadway show

Katie Holmes stepped out with wet hair while out and about in New York City late Thursday evening.

The 44-year-old actress – who has been keeping busy with her off-Broadway show The Wanderers – bundled up in a camel-colored, sherpa-lined trench coat as she headed out.

The mother-of-one also donned a pair of wide-leg denim jeans and brown clogs.

The Dawson’s Creek alum – who was previously married to actor Tom Cruise, 60, from 2006 to 2012 – sported a bright red face mask and carried only her phone.

Recently, the Alone Together star revealed that she almost quit acting at age 17 after a dry spell following her debut film The Ice Storm.

The mother-of-one opted for a fresh face to show off her natural beauty.

She wore no accessories and didn’t carry a purse as she stepped out.

Earlier this year, the Broadway veteran returned to the stage to perform one of the leading roles in The Wanderers.

The original play by playwright Anna Ziegler opened February 16 and will run until April 2.

The Wanderers tells the story of two couples from two different worlds.

According to the synopsis on Ziegler’s page, ‘Esther and Schmuli are Orthodox Jews embarking on an arranged marriage, despite barely knowing each other’.

The plot continued: ‘Abe and Julia [played by Holmes] are high-profile celebrities embarking on a dangerously flirtatious correspondence, despite being married to other people.’

‘On the surface, the lives of these two couples couldn’t be more different,’ it read.

‘The play explores the joys and challenges of commitment, culture, and community – until a surprise email from a movie star puts one of their marriages to an unexpected test.’

While speaking to talk show host Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the television actress revealed that she almost quit acting after her first role in Ang Lee’s 1997 film The Ice Storm.

After her first gig, she struggled to land any more parts and feared her acting career would end there.

‘Well, I was 17,’ she recalled. ‘And I remember we came to New York – my mom and I – and we shot it, and I thought, “Oh, this is what I want to do.” Great.’

She continued: ‘And then I went home, and I was putting myself on tape for different auditions, and I wasn’t really getting anything…I thought, “Oh, well, that might be it. You know. That might be all there is.”

‘But it was okay, because I was like, “You know what, that’s okay. Like, that was an amazing experience. And I can, like, tell my grandkids and I’ll be fine”.’

Fallon asked in response: ‘You were happy with that?

‘Well, I mean, I wanted more jobs,’ she responded. ‘But I was like, “Don’t be, you know, greedy.’
