Keanu Reeves focuses on his side career as a bassist as he drops by a guitar shop in Hollywood

He’s best known for his roles in the Matrix and John Wick series.

But Keanu Reeves has kept up a pastime as a rock bassist, and he was focused on the music on Tuesday when he stopped by a guitar shop in Hollywood in photos obtained exclusively by Dailymail.com.

The 58-year-old superstar casual and disheveled as he headed in to the store to check out the selection.

He even appeared to drop off one of his basses at the shop, possibly to have it repaired or refurbished.

Keanu had on one of his standard slightly disheveled uniforms with a black sport coast that he paired with rumpled olive-colored pants.

He wore a simple navy blue V-neck shirt under his jacket, and he had on a rugged set of light brown hiking boots.

The actor’s dark hair was down to his shoulders, similar to the shaggy style he affects for the John Wick films, and he sported his now-standard salt-and-pepper beard.

He also had on a chunky set of black sunglasses, and he covered up with a black toque to help him stay out of the spotlight.

The My Own Private Idaho star appeared to have a bass case in the backseat of his two-door black sports car, which he pulled out and headed into the shop with.

He whipped off his sunglasses and his hat before returning to his vehicle, but he paused to chat with a man on the sidewalk.

Afterward, Reeves hopped into his car and drove away.

Although he’s not well known for his musicianship nowadays, Keanu regularly played with the band Dogstar in the 1990s and early 2000s.

He cofounded the group in 1991, and it subsequently released two albums in 1996 and 2000.

He handled bass for the group, along with backing vocals, but eventually his increasing fame made it difficult to find time for the side project, and the band broke up in 2002.

He subsequently played in the spinoff group Becky with Dogstar’s drummer, cofounder and actor Robert Mailhouse, but he left that project after just a year.

Since then, Keanu doesn’t appear to have any major musical acts, though he has apparently been keeping up with his instrument.

The actor’s outing comes after Friends star Matthew Perry vowed to remove his name from all future editions of his memoir Friends, Lovers And The Big Terrible Thing.

The 53-year-old Friends actor raised eyebrows last year and issued an apology after he asked why Reeves ‘still walks among us’  when peers such as River Phoenix and Chris Farley had died prematurely.

The Williamstown, Massachusetts native appeared Saturday at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at USC’s Bovard Auditorium, where he said on a panel that ‘any future versions of the book will not have his name in it.’

Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the NBC smash hit, lamented on the mistake at the event, where he promoted the book.

‘I said a stupid thing … it was a mean thing to do, Perry said, adding that he has ‘apologized publicly to’ the John Wick actor.

Perry said that he made the decision to omit the comments about Reeves, in part, because the actor is a neighbor of his.

‘I pulled his name because I live on the same street,’ Perry said, adding he has not personally told Reeves he is sorry for the comments, but would if he has the opportunity to.

‘If I run into the guy, I’ll apologize — It was just stupid,’ he said.

Perry originally wrote: ‘River was a beautiful man inside and out — too beautiful for this world, it turned out.

‘It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down. Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?’

His comments seemed to imply that he though Reeves had little talented compared to his Phoenix, who was his best friend, even though Perry now claims he chose a random name.
