The King has sent his ‘heartfelt’ congratulations to Paralympians from Great Britain and Northern Ireland ahead of the closing ceremony tonight.
King Charles spoke on behalf of himself and his wife Queen Camilla before the event at the Stade de France this evening.
The monarch praised the athletes for ‘inspiring, encouraging and lifting the hearts of all’ as he congratulated them for their sporting achievements.
His statement read: ‘As this wonderful summer of sport comes to a close in Paris, my wife joins me in sending our heartfelt congratulations to the Paralympian athletes from Great Britain and Northern Ireland – and from across the whole Commonwealth – for their numerous successes at this year’s Games.
‘Behind every medal won lies a wonderful story of courage, commitment and true talent, matched by a determination that has taken you to the very top.
‘We rejoice in your victories, while saluting and celebrating all those who have taken part, as well as thanking the support teams who play such a special part in your achievements.
‘Your example has succeeded in inspiring, encouraging and lifting the hearts of all. Charles R.’

King Charles’s health is said to be heading in a ‘very positive’ direction after his cancer diagnosis earlier this year, a royal source said this week.
Charles, 75, marks the second anniversary of his accession to the throne today.
The monarch endured a difficult second year as sovereign with both him and his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, undergoing treatment for cancer.
But the source said King Charles has coped with the past year with a ‘determination to be as public as he was able’ to reassure the nation about his capabilities.
The King’s message to Paralympians comes as Sweden’s Royal Family appeared to enjoy an action-packed couple of days this weekend.
On Sunday, Prince Oscar, eight, accompanied by his father, Prince Daniel, got stuck in with various sporting activities at the annual Pep Day at Haga Park in Stockholm.
The young boy appeared in high spirits as he played table tennis, mini golf and raced on stilts in the sunshine.
The father-son duo enjoyed the games as part of an initiative launched by Daniel, 50, to spread information about the benefits of exercise for young people.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Queen Silvia, 80, Crown Princess Victoria, and her daughter Princess Estelle took to Paris to support Sweden’s team competing in the Paris Paralympics.
