Lakers’ Lebron James will kick off broadcasting career by hosting alternate ‘Thursday Night Footbal

Lakers star Lebron James is set to switch the court for the field as he teams up with Amazon Prime to host a Manningcast-syle stream for the Titans-Packers Thursday Night Football matchup

LeBron James will put his basketball duties on hold for a night next month, as he will host an alternate Thursday Night Football stream on his show The Shop for the game between the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers on November 17.

Sportico’s Jacob Feldman reported that the four-time NBA champion, his business manager Maverick Carter, show creator Paul Rivera and other guests will be among ‘a unique mix of personalities across sports, music entertainment, business, and culture.’

‘In addition to live commentary surrounding the evening’s TNF matchup, TNF in The Shop will host authentic discussion while the cameras roll.’

The broadcast will be similarly structured to ESPN’s alternative Manningcast in the sense that the hosts will interview each other while the game is played.

‘Man, that’s that announcement we wanted to make to everybody y’all,’ James said on an Instagram live feed in relation to Prime Video’s announcement.

‘We are live from The Shop on November 17th, man. Packers and Titans. […] We get to talk football like you said, like the late, great Madden. Like all the analysts that do the game.’

‘Seriously, we like football and for us to have this moment on Uninterrupted and on The Shop, for us to be able to create this Thursday Night, I think it’s incredible for us.’

‘I’m happy to be part of it, that’s for d**n sure,’ the Lakers’ No. 6 said.

The Shop first aired on HBO in 2018 before its content was also pushed out on its Uninterrupted YouTube channel since last year.

Athletes who made early contributions to the show included Rob Gronkowski, Draymond Green and Ronda Rousey.

James spoke on how The Shop became an idea saying, ‘when I was a kid, being in barbershops meant listening to adults talk about sports, clothing, politics, music, everything happened in the shop. It was so real and so candid — no one had a sense of, well I can’t be myself here.’

The most famous Brits who’ve appeared on the show are David Beckham and James Corden.
