LaLiga files complaint in court after Vinicius Jnr was racially abused AGAIN

Furious LaLiga files complaint in court after Vinicius Jnr was racially abused AGAIN during 1-0 loss to Mallorca – making it the sixth time the league has stepped in to protest abuse aimed at Real Madrid attacker

  • Six complaints have been filed by LaLiga over racist abuse aimed at Vinicius Jnr
  • The Real Madrid striker has continually been targeted by rival fans this season
  • Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is sick and tired of his attacker being abused

LaLiga has taken a no-nonsense approach to the latest racist abuse aimed at Vinicius Jnr as they have filed a formal complaint with a court in Mallorca.

The Real Madrid attacker was once again targeted as TV cameras picked up a fan racially abusing him during Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Real Mallorca.

It marks the sixth time that LaLiga has filed a legal complaint over racism aimed towards the Brazilian.

In a statement, LaLiga said: ‘After analysing the images and audio recorded from a position near the stands at San Moix, LaLiga has passed all all the information collected, together with the formal complaint, to the court in Palma de Mallorca, as well as to Real Mallorca, to allow them to take part in the proceedings.’

Vinicius Jnr has found himself targeted on multiple occasions this season. Abuse aimed at him in Mallorca marks the third time in 2022-23.

LaLiga have now filed six complaints after racist abuse aimed at Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jnr

TV cameras picked up chants calling Vinicius a ‘monkey’ – with the league outraged at the continued targeting of the Brazilian.

‘Vinicius is the victim of something that I don’t understand. It must be solved,’ Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said.

‘It seems that the problem is Vinicius, and it is not like that.’

LaLiga has been marred this season by episodes of racist abuse aimed towards Vinicius Jnr.

Back in September Atletico Madrid fans sang racist songs directed at Vinicius during the Madrid derby.

A three-month investigation by Spanish prosecutors eventually ceased as they said it was impossible to properly identify the guilty parties.

Three months later, in December, a fed up Vinicius urged the league to do more to stop racist supporters going to matches after he was abused in a 2-0 win at Real Valladolid.

And in January a sickening effigy of Vinicius was hung from a bridge close to Real Madrid’s training ground. Spanish police are investigating a possible hate crime.

The inflatable doll, donning a Vinicius Jr shirt, appeared under one of the bridges in the Spanish capital and was accompanied with a banner that reads: ‘Madrid hates Real Madrid’.

LaLiga released a statement saying they ‘strongly condemn acts of hatred and intimidation against Vinicius Jr’. They also promised to ‘investigate’ the matter and ‘convict’ those who are responsible.

Their statement read: ‘LaLiga strongly condemns acts of hatred and intimidation against Vinicius Jr. LaLiga, as in the past, will press for an investigation into the matter by relevant state security forces and bodies, seeking convictions for those responsible and requesting the most severe sentences.’

Atletico released their own statement, which read: ‘Acts like this are absolutely disgusting and inadmissible and embarrass society. Our condemnation of any act that attacks the dignity of people or institutions is resounding and unmitigated.

‘The rivalry between both clubs is at the highest level, but so is our respect. No individual, whatever his intentions or his colours, can stain the coexistence between different clubs. It is everyone’s responsibility to avoid it.

‘We do not know the instigator or instigators of this despicable act, but their anonymity does not avoid their responsibility.

‘We hope that the authorities are able to clarify what happened and that justice helps to banish this type of behaviour.’
