Luke Thomas has been recalled from his loan at Sheffield United by Leicester City.

The Championship league leaders have been flying so far following their relegation from the top division.

The Blades, meanwhile, have failed to find their feet in the Premier League and sit in the relegation zone.

Thomas, 22, has featured only 12 times so far this league for Sheffield United and has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The left-back may have been hoping to get more playing time following the sacking of Paul Heckingbottom, but that has not been the case.

Young English full-back Luke Thomas only featured 12 times during his time at the Blades

Blades fans are hoping Chris Wilder’s return to the club will be prosperous this time around as they aim to stay in the Premier League.

Thomas has played 85 games for Leicester, but had not featured in the first four Championship games of the season.

Last week it was revealed Sheffield United signed the striker Ben Brereton Díaz on loan from Villarreal for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old, who joined the La Liga side in the summer after his contract at Blackburn expired, is hoping to hit the ground running.
