Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka has confirmed that he is joining Leicester City with the Foxes appearing to beat off fierce competition from other Premier League sides for the Zambian.

Sportsmail reported earlier this month that Leicester were in advance talks to sign the 22-year-old, who attracted interest from Chelsea and Liverpool after scoring 34 goals for the Austrian club last season.

But Brendan Rodgers looks to have lured him to the East Midlands for a reported £25million fee in what Daka described as a ‘dream move’.

‘I will go to England and move to Leicester City,’ the striker told Krone.

‘I had a great time here, Salzburg has become my second home,’ he added. ‘I will always be happy to come back here, but the Premier League has always been my big dream.’

Daka is reported to have joined the Foxes after being convinced he would get more first team chances than at the other sides.

Leicester turned their attention towards highly-rated Daka after a stunning season with Salzburg, and is understood to have commanded less salary-wise than previous long-term target Odsonne Edouard.

Leicester had a move lined up for the Celtic striker since January but had struggled to agree on a valuation with the Scottish club.

The reported fee will be a record in the Austrian Bundesliga as Daka follows the likes of Erling Haaland, Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino in making the step up into a bigger league.

He is the next player in a strong summer of business for Leicester so far, with the club thought to close to sealing moves for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare and Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand.
