The Australian Podcast Awards were held in Sydney on Thursday night.
Some of the biggest winners of the night included Bachelor stars Laura Byrne and Brittany Hockley, and former Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
Gillard won gold for the The Spotlight Award for her female empowerment podcast, A Podcast of One’s Own.

The show sees the 60-year-old speaking to guests about ways to put women in more leadership positions.
‘If you told me one day, I’d be hosting my own podcast, let alone winning awards for one, I would have said: “I’ve got as much chance of doing that as being Australia’s first female Prime Minister!”‘ Gillard said in a statement.
‘We started A Podcast of One’s Own to help engage people in the world we’re doing at the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership,’ she continued.
‘And to showcase the stories of diverse women leaders from around the globe.’

Brittany and Laura’s Life Uncut were also big winners, taking home the Listeners’ Choice award for the second year in a row.
They also picked up a bronze in The Spotlight Award too, making them double winners.
‘Lifers you guys made this happen! You are the bees knees, the cats pyjamas, the ice in our drinks (and boy did we have a lot of them last night),’ the pair wrote on their official Instagram account.

The girls who launched their podcast Life Uncut in 2019, have gone on to find success and helped build a supportive community online as they tackle everything from dating advice, to friendship woes, to their every day hilarious antics.

Life Uncut has also moved towards commercial success as Laura and Brittany will feature in a spin-off radio show which launches in 2022 by KIIS FM.

MEanwhile, the Best Network award went to DM Podcasts aka Diamantina Media, home of the Betoota Advocate and The Becky and Cam Hotline.

Criminal: Another huge winner on the night was The Nurse, which took home Best True Crime Podcast and Moment of the Year
‘They offered a diverse range of offerings with consistently high production value and strong branding. Their commercial partnerships supported growth without sacrificing the integrity of their production.’
