Love Island’s Francesca Allen defends her fiancé Ed Crossan’s huge new tattoo of her name after fans asked if the tribute was an April Fools

Francesca Allen was forced to defend her fiancé Ed Crossan on Monday after he got a huge new tattoo of her name.

The former Love Island star, 28, shared her ‘surprise’ at the businessman’s, 33, ‘gesture of love’ but many of their fans believed it to be an April Fools prank.

Sharing a video to Instagram, Francesca gave an insight into the process as Ed had a cherub and her name inked on his thigh.

She captioned the post: ‘What would you do!? Possibly one of the craziest surprises I’ve ever had in my life what a huge gesture of love mi amore still can’t believe this went down. 3 hours later.’

But followers claimed the update was a prank, as they questioned: ‘April Fools?’ and ‘look at the date.’

Another joked: ‘If I’d done that I would have had a lot of lines through names and legs about 30ft long.’

‘Oh dear,’ Francesca responded.

‘Learnt my lesson when I got my now ex partners name on me and I think he probably feels the same!’ one fan added as the TV personality hit back: ‘Were engaged but ok.’

Francesca also had a go at tattooing as she penned ‘love’ on to her fiancé’s ankle.

She became engaged to her family friend and businessman Ed, who previously dated TOWIE’s Amber Turner in December 2021.

Ed, the vice chairman of London-based waste management company Powerday, had popped the question in an idyllic festive proposal.

He made his headline debut back in May 2019, when he got hot and heavy with TOWIE’s Amber in Ibiza during a break from her on-again romance with Dan Edgar.

During her stint on season five of Love Island, Francesca failed to find love after coupling up with Curtis Pritchard and Michael Griffiths.

The model has been linked to Piers Morgan’s son Spencer in the past. Spencer also commented on her engagement announcement to send his well-wishes.

She has also previously spoken about ‘enjoying being myself’ after spending years in relationships with men ‘she didn’t even really like’.

She said: ‘I was in relationships throughout my younger years. I hadn’t really been single until Love Island came about. I was always falling into relationships with people I didn’t even really like.

‘But now, I feel selfish and really enjoying being myself and happy in my own company. If someone comes along that ticks all the boxes, but maybe not now.’
